Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Franklin's 2016 recruiting class just jumped Bama and Ole Miss to #4 overall at 247 with the addition of 4* DT Karamo Dioubate yesterday.

Don't think he'll be able to close out that highly, but the B1G currently sitting with 3 teams in the Top 7 (and Sparty at 12) should help turn around perception of the conference in the coming years. The East division is going to be ridiculous.

Welcome to the conference, Rutgers and Maryland!
I don't think it really changes anything. tOSU, TSUN, and State Penn are generally going to be top 15 or better unless something catastrophic happens (PSU sanctions). MSU rising up is good, but the other 10 dwarfs are still recruiting way behind their peers in the SECSECSEC. Granted I think we know how mi$$ and mi$$ $tate are getting those high rated cla$$e$, and I don't expect the dwarfs of the b1g to start playing those games, but as long as their hiring the mac coach of the year off one good season I don't see any depth developing outside the big 3/4 in the east. Wisc has it's system and Neb has some name recognition left, but I don't see Indiana/purdue/illinois rising up keeping their in-state talent home much less grabbing top players from other regions.

Illinois is a clusterfuck right now, and football is the least of their priorities. They're facing various lawsuits from former players against the athletic department. A lot of older, more conservative alumni are still pissed about the Chief thing. Rauner has absolutely gutted their budget by over $300MM. They're coming off a scandal of politicized admissions and scholarships for friends of politicians and in the middle of another for rescinding a job offer to a Professor at the behest of some powerful Jewish donors. They lost one Chancellor over the admissions scandal and the new one just resigned over the hiring scandal. Focusing on unfucking their foosball is a low, low priority.

If Kill can keep building the Minny program, and Riley can revive The Corn, that--along with Wiscy--should be enough to have a respectable West division.

I don't think The Corn will ever back to where they were under the "saintly" Dr. Tom. IMO, the three programs that will never get back to where they were in the '80s and '90s are The Corn, Miami and the Pedsters. All three can have good seasons going forward, but I think any of them will be hard-pressed to win multiple national championships like they did in the '80s or '90s.

A couple months back, I read an exhaustive article on Lawrence Phillips after his killed his cellmate. The article stated that one of the things Phillips asked his contacts was how Nebraska had fallen to mediocre status.

This BWI thread only made it seven posts before being locked, but I find it hilarious. A Cult member starts a thread to alert McAndrew that an outsider has slipped into the hive and need to be banned. After several more Cult posts begging for a poster to be banned, a McAndrew underling shows up and admonishes the Cult for furiously hitting the "Report" button over and over again when a fan from another program shows up. I envision Cult members furiously clicking "Report" and praying that McAndrew will make the bad people go away.

kjb32812: "First of all, fans from other schools can come here and post as it is a free board. I'm not going to ban a PITT fan or a Rutgers fan simply because of who they root for.

This is Tom's board and he mostly moderates but that's how I feel about the situation.

Finally, if you report a thread, you don't need to report it five, six or seven times. That's more demanding of a ban then a differing opinion IMO."

Ironic that PSU fans think that a troubling situation should be reported multiple times if it doesn't seem like it's being addressed . . .

I'd throw Colorado in there too
