Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I know this isn't the forum for politics, and I don't know anything about the political offices up for election tomorrow in Pennsylvania, but I hope Tom Corbett gets re-elected to Governor of Pennsylvania.

They think that Wolf is going to reshuffle the appointees to the PSU BOT in order to give the cult the upper hand and of course the hatred for Corbett comes from the firing of Joesus. Wolf will have about a thousand other things to worry about before taking on BOT restructuring so it will be years before anything is done if at all.

The delusion about an election having anything to do with Joe Paterno is as strong as their delusion that Penn State has lived up to their fantasies about being the power broker in this conference.

I don't see anything here about Sandusky...

Sidenote: Even if you include all ~500,000 alum ... and all of them happened to live in Pennsylvania, and all of them happen to be Paterno cultists who vote... that's still a drop in the bucket. Apparently they didn't teach statistics at Penn State when 9fold went there.

Disclaimer: I deliberately chose a neutral article in order to avoid political issues; merely demonstrating that Corbett's problems are in fact political ones and not based on Paterno or PSU alums

Penn State fans seem to be really grumpy about Maryland's "no handshake" thing. In comes the voice of reason:

Yes, it showed no class by the Maryland players, if that got into your team's head and made them lose the game, then your team needs to man up.

Eh, had PSU's clown coach not felt the need to go all tough-guy and trash Maryland and Rutgers in the offseason, I guarantee Maryland wouldn't have done this. As is typical, PSU brought this [censored] on themselves.

UMD fan is saying that Jimmy had the pedsters run through Maryland's warm ups on their way into stadium. If true, that would go a long way to explaining Maryland's actions at the coin flip. Of course, that is such a massive cognitive dissonance for the cult and their childish Pleasantville view of their program and players that it can't even be discussed in the echo chamber.

Corbett has no hope tomorrow. He is anywhere from 12-20 points behind in a state that has never thrown out an incumbent governor seeking re-election. The Paterno faction is not going to make the difference between winning and losing for Corbett. But as ridiculous as it may sound, Corbett has been heckled with calls of "What about Joe Paterno?" at campaign stops throughout election season. I am not taking The Cult's word on that. I have seen daily newspapers that have nothing to do with The Cult mention Corbett getting heckled about Paterno.

I suspect from Tom Wolf's comments throughout election season that he is going to use the taxpayers of Pennsylvania as an ATM machine for public sector unions. But both Audibles and BWI have contained many posts in over the past three years from posters stating they have never voted for a Democrat in their lives, but they will vote for whoever runs against Corbett in the general election. Voting against Corbett is a wet dream for The Cult. The exact same desire for vengeance that has prompted The Cult has vote out BoT members in mass also applies to voting out Corbett.

The Cult block voted for Democrat Kathleen Kane for Attorney General after she made many vague inferences to looking into Corbett's role in the Sandusky scandal. Naturally, The Cult took that to mean Corbett would be sitting in jail cell and almighty Joesus would be vindicated.

I like to hear their complaints that they only have 40-something scholarship athletes. So when Ohio State, Michigan, Maryland, and Northwestern beat them, it isn't an accomplishment. What is their excuse for 2000 (5-7), 2001 (5-6), 2003 (3-9), or 2004 (4-7)? Or USC - did their fans whine the way Penn State's do?

Ohio State never had more than 57 scholarship athletes last season (there were 19 redshirts). After Bryant & Bogard were injured they completed the season with 55.

To @ORD_Buckeye or anyone else who might know, is my impression correct that Penn State has an abnormally large contingent of elected members on their board of trustees?

As far as I know, Ohio State either has none or very few members elected by alumni (or whoever, I don't know how that works).

It seems like a set up that is just asking for trouble. If anything, smart reform would be to take the number of elected members down to just a handful on the board.

The Cult would be in rare form over that if it were to happen.

You may be right that Corbett has no chance. Again, I don't know about the politics, and this isn't the forum for it. (BP has a political forum.) I just enjoy reading about PSU angst. What's that called? Schadenfraude? I probably spelled it wrong, and maybe I pronounced it wrong. It may even be the wrong word. Anyway, I'm just happy that it's already being very divisive on BWI:

I can't believe some of you.. I bet if we did a poll on here, Corbett would win and that is SICKENING!

It turns out that ped aggy has 9 elected to three year terms. The first group is up for reelection soon hence the cult's plan to oust Talieferro for insufficient purity to Joesus. That being said, they seem to have a rather huge board (40 something, I think), so the 9 can never have a real impact. In essence, they are just a handful thus the cult's demand to expand the number of elected trustees.

Ohio State does not elect trustees. They're all appointed by the sitting Governor. Ohio State actually had a pretty small board (9) until it was expanded to 15 + 3 Charter Trustees who are prominent alumni from out of state who serve shorter three year terms, which is actually a pretty good sweet spot. Not so small that one Governor can essentially take over the university one year into his second term but not huge and unruly.
