OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Hate to say it but that is a nice get by Ben Johnson
When you are a B1G program like Minnesota that loses 9 players early, you will inevitably get some decent talent to join your team because you have wide open starting spots.

Obviously Kyle Young (and his backup) coming back is great, but that means there isn't really a great opening for PT for a prospective recruit. Clearly getting a player like Joey Brunk with size and experience in starting at the HM level to join in this scenario is a win for CH. Now they will have an even better opening for bigs in the 2022 class.

Following the end of the season, Ohio State was able to secure the commitment from former Indiana center Joey Brunk. However, as helpful as Brunk will be next season, Ohio State needs to be able to bring in a blue-chip prospect at the position in the 2022 class — one that already contains three commitments from blue-chip guards: Roddy Gayle Jr., Bruce Thornton, and Bowen Hardman.

Fortunately on Monday, the Buckeyes made the cut for one of their top targets at the position: four-star center Donovan Clingan.

Looks like EJ Onu could be a name to keep on the radar. Cleveland native who goes to Shawnee State. Two time NAIA All-American, 6'11" with a 7'6" wingspan. Averaged 16.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.5 blocks while shooting 67% from 2-point range and 40% from 3 on four attempts per game last season. Mentions OSU, Texas Tech, Indiana and LSU as high majors who have made contact.

He actually shoots a lot of 3s, too, and makes a good number of them.

Honestly think he would start at the 5. And be a good fit for us.

Per an IU insider the main college programs in contention for him at the moment are IU, OSU, Texas Tech, LSU, and FSU (yes, somehow we are competing with LSU and FSU for a big again). He could go pro or some other major programs could get in the mix.

QUOTE="DZ83CK, post: 3403168, member: 16552"]OSU is reportedly recruiting an SG transfer. This to me implies a personnel loss amongst the guard/wing group is to be expected. Whether that is Duane proceding to turn pro or someone else transferring, we'll just have to wait and see.

There's the answer on who (i.e. Ibrahima Diallo) won't be back that would open up a scholarship for another transfer, etc. Hopefully both Washington and Liddell return.
