OL Matthew Jones (Official Thread)

That said, Day also had plenty of positive things to say about Ohio State’s offensive linemen last week in Indianapolis – and not only about the starting five.

Barring any surprises or injuries in preseason camp, Ohio State’s starting lineup up front already appears to be set: Paris Johnson Jr. at left tackle, Donovan Jackson at left guard, Luke Wypler at center, Matt Jones at right guard and Dawand Jones at right guard.

There’s no shortage of talent in that lineup – Johnson and Jackson were both five-star recruits, Wypler and Matt Jones were both rated as top-two centers in their recruiting classes and Dawand Jones is as physically gifted as any of them – and Day believes in all of their talent.

“Matt Jones has played more now. Luke had a great year. And then Donovan is going to be younger, but we think he's very talented. So when you look at those five, you think that those are five really good offensive linemen.”

Huge and way late bump for this guy.

Ask yourself this..have you heard ANYTHING about this guy in his first starting year?? Any laundry on the field or worry about him performing?

The dude just does his job. Every week.

If this team hits all of their goals it is because the “forgotten” guys like Matt just quietly ball out.
yep, Dawand and Paris get most of the pub but the interior - Jackson, Wypler and Jones - have been absolutely brilliant opening holes and providing a great pocket for CJ all year. There is no weakness on this Offense I'm confident in saying

At the risk of being repetitive, I have always been Jones' biggest advocate. When he got a chance to play, he always did his job and is a brute in the interior. I never understood why he didn't play more in the last couple seasons. I know we had other guys that were good, but Jones did the damned deed every time he came in. I just thought he played so well that you couldn't keep him off the field even if you don't technically name him a starter.

But the past is the past, looking forward to Jones to continue to dominate and hopefully hear his name called on draft day. The NFL scouts are no dummies, they are most definitely seeing Matthew do his thing this year and taking notes.

Think it’s been interesting following Wyatt Davis career in NFL…..I felt like Wyatt was a beast at OSU but just hasn’t panned out in NFL. Know injuries have played a factor but Jones was his backup initially.

Jones is gonna have a long career in NFL assuming he stays healthy. Seems like a great kid too….

The versatility of playing center and guard doesn't hurt either.
