OL Connor Smith (official thread)

You could have just left it at that
Exactly, I quit reading his stuff. I don't think he has much insight into any situations. He simply goes off his "gut feel" which has been wrong more than right the last couple of years.

I am not worried. How can tOSU have some work cut out for them? They were the first major to offer and his dad played for tOSU. If anything, I lump this in the same as Aaron Brown, Smith is tOSU's to lose not win.

In my opinion, Connor and his dad has been vague and wide open during the whole process. They don't give to much in interviews. I have to believe OSU is in the mix and the favorite in my opinion.

your assumption is correct. I wish I could post more, but Connor and his family know who I am and have requested that I stop posting so much about it...and I have some good stuff to post...:(

Expect his verbal before then high school season starts...and I fully expect all of us to be happy.

Rivals $

5/4 (Oregon)

Connor is holding offers from Ohio State, Boston College, Miami (Ohio), LSU, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Oregon, and Tennessee while also receiving major attention from Florida, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Iowa, Michigan, and Oklahoma. He speaks highly of tOSU and Michigan in the article but claims he is wide open without a favorite.

Scout.com's #1 Midwest Prospect
By Chris Pool Midwest Recruiting Analyst
Date: May 13, 2005

The Scout.com recruiting rankings won’t come out until June but here’s a little Midwest taste. Connor Smith, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound, offensive lineman, from Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain will be the pre-season #1 prospect in the Midwest. We had the chance to catch up with Connor to talk about his offers, favorites and current leaders.

Best Tackle on film according to author, could play both guard and tackle. His father started for OSU for three years. While Connor says it is a factor that his dad's alma mater OSU is always on TV at home, he will make his own decision. His father will not try to influence him to go to OSU. His three leaders are Tennessee, Michigan and OSU.

No, Boren's dad played for UM, and his whole family would have probably gone into mourning had he come here. The absolute opposite is the case here.

That's what Boren said isn't it? and we can see how that turned out.

Like jwins said, the Borens would've freaked had he chose OSU. Hell, his little brother was crying just because Justin was simply considering the Buckeyes...

I'd say Connor is in the top 3 must-get recruits at this point. I firmly expect Lee Tilley to get an offer at camp also. Connor and Aaron Brown are really important stabilizers to this class. We already have Beanie on board and a lot of skill players looking our way, the line (both O and D) are the most important for our class this season.

Alright everyone, this isn't bucknuts. We don't explode when someone verbals elsewhere, especially not when the player's interest in OSU was a flash in the pan in contrast with his lifetime of loving the wolverines. If you want to go on and on about how the sky is falling, then you should probably take your time to BN. There's nothing wrong with being disappointed about Boren, but its quickly getting out of hand.

Connor Smith will make his decision as well, and he is a better prospect than Boren. Landing any combination of Brown, Smith, Tilley, Browning, etc. from Ohio and/or Sam Young and a bunch of other OOS OL will be a great OL class.

I wouldn't worry about Michigan getting too many from Ohio this year, Casey. They took four top-ranked linemen last year, and already landed Boren. There really isn't too much to worry about in the long run.

I'm glad to see that Chris Pool considers Smith the #1 prospect. Based on his dominance last year, I've personally been more desirous of his verbal than Brown or Boren. Not a knock on anyone, either. I think we're in good shape to land Conner, just based on our great need, our great program, and our family connection. Like H&Glory said, good news is coming here. It's a no-brainer.

The way things are looking UM might be able to get the Big 3 in Ohio. Better chance then we have!
Just because supposedly scUM has landed Boren (by the way, lets not forget we still have about a year to change his mind) that doesn't mean that the big three are looking to go to scUM... I actualkly like our chances with brown and Smith because I thought boren would go to scUM all along because of his family history

Now family history is on our side (im not buying that his dad being from OSU doesn't have any significance to his decision... If he has been watching buckeye football for the past few years, that is a definate advantage for us).
