OL Connor Smith (official thread)

I wouldn't worry about Michigan getting too many from Ohio this year, Casey. They took four top-ranked linemen last year, and already landed Boren. There really isn't too much to worry about in the long run.
That's right. We'll be looking primarily for just one offensive tackle now. We don't really have a chance with Brown. We'd love to land Smith, but beyond him and Sam Young we aren't really going to be competing with OSU anymore this year over linemen.

From the Michigan site...during a phone call last Friday between Lloyd Carr and Coach Coombs, Carr offered scholarships to both Connor and Cobrani Mixon. Connor responded by putting Michigan in his top 5 along with Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma and Tennessee. The article mentions Smith's father played for Woody (and also manages to bring up the fact that Smith's father was a redshirt freshman at the time of Woody's famous "incident" during the Clemson game). Connor is adamant that he will take his time with the process and see what's out there. The article also talks about Colerain's ongoing relationship with Michigan and how Mister Simpson committed there last year. But again Connor is adamant that that will not play into his decision.

Mister Simpson better not influence his decision, Simpson only went to Michigan cuz he was originally from Michigan and his dream was to play for scUM his whole life, so a prospect who's dad WAS A BUCKEYE better not go to MICHIGAN

I posted a response to this earlier in this thread...Cobrani and Mister Simpson have no influence (nor will they ever) over any choice that Connor makes.

It would have been very difficult for Conner to have given his verbal yesterday at or around that time since he was busy doing community and school activities on Saturday at that time...In fact, I spoke to him around that time on Saturday and he told me that he had not given his verbal yet.

...stay tuned.

Man I love the sound of that last little bit. H&G you're giving great info. that's going to make it tough to go to sleep. If Connor Smith jumps on board soon we hopefully can get on a bigger roll with the rest of the tremendous state talent.

It means that he plans on making his decision prior to attending camp at Michigan...meaning he won't be going up to camp, using it as a sort of unofficial visit like Boren did.

H&G has thrown MORE than enough hints out there...time to relax and let Connor enjoy the rest of the process before choosing a school. OSU is in very good shape with Connor at this point.
