OL Coach/Run Game Coordinator Justin Frye (Official Thread)

didnt know where else to put this post I found on 11W but i find this interesting nonetheless....

Tressel years: I remember the OL being really good but very little depth behind the starters. You'd hold your breath praying the starters would remain healthy.

Some of the Urban and all the Day years:

2015; Matt Burrell, Isaiah Prince, Brandon Bowen, Grant Schmidt, and Kevin Feder so 5 OL. All busted except for Prince in this #7 rated class.

2016: Malcolm Pridgeon, Tyler Gerard, Michael Jordan, Jack Wohlabaugh, and Gavin Cupp.so 5 OL. All busted except for Jordan in this #4 rated class.

2017: Wyatt Davis, Josh Myers, and Thayer Munford. Hit on all three but only 3 OL recruits in the second rated class. There were 7 DB's in this class.

2018: NPF, Matt Jones and Wray: hit on NPF and Jones. Busted on Wray. Only 3 OL recruits but 7 DL recruits in this #2 rated class.

2019 : Harry Miller, Enokk, Ryan Jacoby busted; hit on Dawand. 4 OL in this #7 rated class.

2020: Paris Johnson, Luke Wypler, Josh Fryar, Grant Toutant, Jakob James, and Trey Leroux. 6 OL in this #5 rated class.

2021: Donavan Jackson, Zen Michalski, and Ben Christman. 3 OL in this #2 rated class.

2022: Tegra, George Fitzpatrick, Carson Hintzman, and Avery Henry.

2023: Luke Montgomery, Josh Padilla, Austin Sirervald, and Miles Walker in this #4 rated class. OSU really needs the first 3 guys to hit in 2024 and 2025.

Conclusion: looks like only 1 OL recruit out of 3-4 OL develops into a reliable starter. Multi-year starters like Paris, Dawand, Wyatt Davis and NPF really saved OSU's kiester in the past 6 years. There's a big bust rate on the lower rated OL.

I'll pay for the shipping and handling if that's legit. The OL did improve some over the course of the year, but they got abused Saturday and the job Frye was brought in for was to establish dominance on the front in games like this. He has not done that and his recruiting is maybe even worse than Studrawa. That does not add up to Frye's return...Frye and Fleming both need to hit the road after the bowl game (and more importantly early NLOID) are over, the rest are on hot seats next year.
