OL Coach/Run Game Coordinator Justin Frye (Official Thread)

found this post on 11W forum interesting....

Need Frye to get his big win. Frye has gotten 8 commits at OSU across 2 cycles so far. Only 1 is in the 247 composite top 100, and only 2 in the composite top 200. Only 5 out of 8 are even blue chips (62.5%). Across all other positions combined over the same time frame, 32 out of 33 non OL commits are blue chips (96.97%).

I’m just saying, go look at the 23 and 24 classes and the cluster of lowest rated players in both classes is mostly the offensive linemen, our most dire position of need. That’s not getting it done at the standard that’s been set.

Studwara's legacy lives on.

doesnt exactly give me the warm and fuzzies as i continue to watch Ryan Days offense fail to convert 3rd and short in the run game consistently.
I will give an amen to that. He is supposed to be the "run coordinator" and the short yardage situations were as bad as ever. The recruiting isn't ideal so far and he really needs to land Baker to earn his keep, but it hasn't been awful. Not greatly concerned on his recruiting so far but the on-field results definitely need to be proven this year.

I’ll put this in the thread of the OL coach/Run game coordinator. The worst part of today watching games, as well as watching last weeks slate of games, is seeing how so many average to bad teams have been able to easily get 1st downs on 3rd and short while OSU struggles with nothing but 4 and 5star talent. I remember seeing all 3 RBs Not get 1st downs on 3rd and short situations and I just stood there in disbelief. Yet NC State had no problem getting 1st downs in the same situations, same aTm, Miami, Tulane, Nebraska, etc
OSU shouldnt have to pass on 3rd and 2 to get a freaking 1st down against Youngstown State!

Agree with much of above. Not entirely certain how Frye - without throwing current OTs under the bus - points out to Baker and Seaton, that lookit, we need you here, and quickly. Right now, Dryden's magnificent stats about the three OL graduates points out their talents rather than Frye's coaching ala the OL performance so far. Even Donovan's come under scrutiny, and he's a pre-season AA! Well, we've in essence got one more pre-it matters game (WKy), and then it's marble time. Agree, if Montgomery's showing out in practice, by all means get him some minutes.
