THANKS FOR RUINING THE SEASON. thats so stupid. and yeah little girl hes our team hope yall are happy, now. cuz the sooners in TX are goin to have to go though crap for yall and when we win you wont be a part of it. im ashamed your even part of OU at the moment. that was dumb and you could of cost the team our season and texas sooners there priide. we already go through enough crap fro yall.

look girl im really sorry. i didnt mean to judge but living in TX you go through alot of crap when your a sooner and everyone says were going to suck which we will now. unlessAD comes through and he will. sooner football is my familys life. i know way more about football then li ke id ever know. or thought. but Rhett made a mistake idc if weall do duh. but hes a really good QB and he let down thousands of people. and it hurts he could have lost the season for us. but we have ad and ru. so i dont know. i hiope we just win that oct 7th game.

sorry if i came off ike i judge its just it really hurts when a player thats like your hero lets thousands of ppl down and you live where i do.

i have been a sooner fan all my life and you dont even know what we go through. when we lose it sucks. and we go through crap when we do so when our QB does something crappy ueah were going to be upset. But AD we'llll carry us through. and we better gt to phoneix and win that game oct.7th.

But after Wednesday's announcement that Bomar and starting offensive lineman J.D. Quinn have been permanently dismissed from the Oklahoma football team for taking wages from a Norman car dealership for work they didn't do, the Sooners are right back to where they were at the beginning of the 2005 season. They've got no quarterback, a thin offensive line and a star tailback who will find fewer holes than a prairie dog burrowing in the dusty Oklahoma hardpan.--ESPN

NCAA president Myles Brand told reporters during a Thursday teleconference that he approved of Oklahoma's handling of the situation.

"I have been reading about it in the paper," Brand said. "It is unfortunate that a few student-athletes were involved in some payments which they did not earn. I want to compliment Coach Stoops and the University of Oklahoma in so far that they took immediate action. I believe the rapid response showed integrity."
Brand wouldn't comment on whether the NCAA would investigate the allegations at Oklahoma.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said yesterday that the school acted quickly when it found out that starting quarterback Rhett Bomar and offensive lineman J.D. Quinn broke NCAA rules through employment at a car dealership.
Stoops said he had not been aware that Bomar and Quinn were working at the dealership last fall until Oklahoma’s compliance staff investigated the situation. Stoops said he didn’t rush to a decision but considered it "fairly cut and dry."
Stoops said the players, who were dismissed from the team Wednesday, "knowingly" broke the rules.
"Both parties were aware that their actions were in violation of NCAA rules. They did it over a long and extended period of time," Stoops said. "That’s conduct that we won’t tolerate here at the University of Oklahoma."
Bomar set an Oklahoma freshman record with 2,018 yards passing last season after taking over as the starter in week two.
Quinn, Bomar’s roommate, was expected to start at right guard this year.
"I respect the decision that coach Stoops made. We have to live with that, you know, we have to move on," Bomar told KOCO-TV yesterday. "But I wish the best for the program. I cared about this program and I don’t want anybody to think that we didn’t."
Quinn also apologized, saying he wishes he "could take it back."
Oklahoma named Paul Thompson as its new starting quarterback. He served as a backup for three seasons, including his redshirt year, before beating Bomar out for the starting job last fall. Bomar claimed the starting role after Oklahoma lost to Texas Christian in its season opener, and Thompson stayed the backup despite a subsequent move to receiver.

what excellent representatives of their university. I'm not one to be a grammar/spelling nazi, but that's just horrible. God they sound stupid.

Here is another thought about those personal pages. As I understand it, the folks posting their comments to that page had first to be "invited" or accepted by Bomar as "friends" - I'd say they are a lot less close now - wouldn't you?

I don't think that the criticism should all be laid at the feet of Stoops. I think that the coaching staff is an easy scapegoat in cases like these. They cannot follow 100+ players around in their personal lives 24 hours a day. The players know the rules, and if the players break the rules, they are the ones who should be blamed, IMO.

The only way Stoops should be blamed for this IN ANY WAY , is if he got the players that job.

Disagree. If it is true that 20 or so of his team had been working part time as reported, then Stoops should have given the place a full body cavity search. I would NEVER risk having 25% of my team's reputation at stake without checking it out. This was a private company, not a school sponsored program and the school had considerable exposure here.
Call me crazy but I think most schools would have kicked the tires at the dealership just to be sure there were not potential issues.
It just is prudent.

So what if a lot of people work at the same place. Are you going to tell them they can't work at the same job. It is a luxury position that D1 players are in, where in such jobs they can pick there work place so I'd like to work with a lot of my teammates also. If the investigation comes down that those 2 were in fact the only ones who were cheating the system, then is Stoops to blame. You go check out the place and 90% of the teammates working there have there stories check out as being legit. He isn't a full time babysitter, and kids can take money anywhere at anytime, it doesn't have to be through work. A coach shouldn't be blamed for this if he has been lied to by his players. If it's proven that all of the players were getting money from that company i'll weaken on my stance as that is too many players, but for now I feel strongly that Stoops is getting a raw deal, he isn't a full-time babysitter.

Bingo. If you don't hold the coaches accountable for some level of oversight you are back to the days when they can just wink at the boosters and plead 'plausible deniability'.

After the Peterson incident in particular this needed a closeer look. I'm not saying it is all Stoops fault by any means. But he didn't do anthing to merit praise for his oversight and I am a long way from believing his suspension of players was driven by anything beyond a desire to avoid even stronger sanctions.
