Sooners in unfamiliar role

Oklahoma a spoiler?
It just doesn't sound right, Sooners wide receiver Malcolm Kelly said Monday during a teleconference in advance of Saturday night's Big 12 championship game that pits top-ranked Missouri against No. 9 Oklahoma in San Antonio.
Missouri (11-1, 7-1 Big 12) needs a victory to gain a spot in the Bowl Championship Series title game. With two losses, Oklahoma (10-2, 6-2) is out of the national championship picture. The Sooners will be playing for the Big 12 title, a possible invitation to another BCS bowl and, as much as anything, pride. "You don't usually hear 'spoiler' (associated with Oklahoma)," Kelly said. "Usually that's some unranked team. Or somebody trying to play spoiler against Oklahoma."

I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. In all honesty, I do believe that Missouri is a good football team... maybe even a really good team. However, any team is beatable this year, and Sam Bradford has been sensational for the Sooners this year.

I'm telling you though, the thing that I do not like is that Missouri is the underdog in this game. If I had to take a wild guess, I would say that Mizzou will come out and play passion and with vengeance towards Oklahoma and the people who set up the lines. I mean, honestly, how the hell do you have a number one team as a 3.5 point underdog? Only this year, and only in college football.

This game could go either way, and it's going to be an incredible game for Mizzou, Sooner, and Buckeye fans.

My God, the fun has just begun.

one of mizzou's TE's is out for the game, and OU's starting DE Austin English, is going to play.

Also, if you read some of the press clippings from the first game, the OU players even said that they had a little let down after the RRSO the week before, and started coasting early when they were up 13, and let mizzou back in.

They turned it on after that, and it was all over.

Mizzo's TE is going to play. And OU's DE is only going to play as needed. So I think this is inaccurate on both accounts.

Missouri tight end questionable for Big 12 title game
ESPN

A sprained right ankle Chase Coffman first sustained at Oklahoma in mid-October is making the tight end the lone question mark for top-ranked Missouri in the Big 12 championship game on Saturday night.

"We've been pretty fortunate for the most part," Pinkel said. "We're a pretty healthy team. We're a little nicked and bruised."

Sooners to be without top rusher (knee) for final two games
ESPN

English has missed the last three games for the ninth-ranked Sooners (10-2, 6-2) since suffering a hairline fracture in his right leg against Texas A&M. He had a pin surgically inserted two weeks ago.
"He did some jogging and running around, so we'll see," Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said after practice Monday night.

Stoops does expect to have backup Alan Davis back in time for the championship game. Davis started in place of English against Baylor and Texas Tech, but a concussion caused him to miss last week's game against Oklahoma State.

We'll just have to hope for the best....

Missourinet: Missouri Tight End Coffman Questionable

Chase Coffman has been battlling an sprained right ankle ever since the 2nd quarter of the first OU game. He's played through the injury, but now he's wearing a protective boot for the next couple of days as treatment for his ankle which got rolled over on Missouri's first PAT in the Kansas game.
Coffman played through the 2nd quarter, but the training staff came up to head coach Gary Pinkel on the sidelines and wanted to get Coffman out of the game.
Coffman will take the boot/cast off on Wednesday or Thursday to see how his ankle feels. Right now the Tigers have him listed as questionable. Coffman says he thinks he'll be ready to play.

Missouri players celebrate after beating Kansas 36-28 Saturday to win the Big 12 North title.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Missouri is the No. 1 college football team in the nation, and even the Tigers' biggest fans are having trouble grasping the concept.
Bill Cocos, 76, has missed two Missouri football games, home or away, since 1969. After the Tigers beat Kansas 36-28 on Saturday to win the Big 12 North title, he was admittedly overwhelmed.
"It was something I thought I would never see in my life," said Cocos, a former member of Missouri's Board of Curators.

Big bucks for Big 12

NORMAN -- To play or not to play? That is the question several conferences face when it comes to a league championship football game.

But not every conference. And that can create some sticky situations come bowl season.

Nowhere is it stickier, or is anyone wrestling more with that dilemma this week, than officials throughout the Big 12 Conference. And it serves those greedy honchos right.

Unbelievable

Is that more of a surprise than the ass-whipping that KU put on NU or their previously undefeated season this year?
