Oklahoma 38, Missouri 17 (final)

Yikes. Don't like the look of that...

No, but that usually just means lots of passing yards. Its efficency and scoring that should concern people.

All in all, I went and looked at the box score of that first game and OU had a 17 point lead untill Mizzou tacked one on at the end. Also I think OU has just as good an offense and a much better defense.

You never can tell but I'll keep repeating myself on this one, we really can't ask for much more in terms of needing an "upset" to move up. I think we just need the better team to win. I know it doesn't seem like it this year but overall they usually do that.

That Texas Tech game couldn't have helped, I bet.

Either way, one would have to believe Mizzou will play them much tougher a second time around - assuming they play focused. I doubt OU will roll on them again. Should be exciting - I'll be watching the game with the airline ticket sites bookmarked, waiting to pull the trigger on where we're going in January!

No, but OU did ok in the second half iirc. As always its a complete team game. No defense is going to hold a powerful offense in check when their own offense is going 3 and out every series. I know he doesn't play defense but losing their QB early like that did indeed hurt the overall defensive effort.

The best case scenario is if OU's DEs play the game of their lives and make those TEs stay home to pass protect. Also, OU's defense over the years really thrived on being overly aggressive and ends up getting burned once or twice a year by teams with vertical speed. I don't think Mizzo has the vertical speed to hurt OU. I think if there's a game to play aggressive, this is it.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. In all honesty, I do believe that Missouri is a good football team... maybe even a really good team. However, any team is beatable this year, and Sam Bradford has been sensational for the Sooners this year.

I'm telling you though, the thing that I do not like is that Missouri is the underdog in this game. If I had to take a wild guess, I would say that Mizzou will come out and play passion and with vengeance towards Oklahoma and the people who set up the lines. I mean, honestly, how the hell do you have a number one team as a 3.5 point underdog? Only this year, and only in college football.

This game could go either way, and it's going to be an incredible game for Mizzou, Sooner, and Buckeye fans.

My God, the fun has just begun.

one of mizzou's TE's is out for the game, and OU's starting DE Austin English, is going to play.

Also, if you read some of the press clippings from the first game, the OU players even said that they had a little let down after the RRSO the week before, and started coasting early when they were up 13, and let mizzou back in.

They turned it on after that, and it was all over.

Here's some interesting quotes from Bob Stoops and their DC speaking about playing the same team twice, etc.:

Stoops said he didn't buy into the belief that it's more difficult for a team to beat an opponent a second time in the same season. When asked separately about the challenges presented by Daniel and Missouri's tight end tandem of Martin Rucker and Chase Coffman, he had similar responses: "We've dealt with that the last two years with them. Right?''

Stoops was pleased that Oklahoma played a "clean'' game against its in-state rival, going without any turnovers and few penalties, and said his confidence is built on the fact that the Sooners "haven't had a lot of bad quarters'' this season. A turnover-filled fourth quarter proved costly in a loss at Colorado, and the Sooners were off-kilter the entire first half when quarterback Sam Bradford suffered a concussion in the Texas Tech loss.

Defensive coordinator Brent Venables opened a folder with notes about the last time Oklahoma faced Missouri, and three words jumped off the page: Must tackle better.

"It's another big challenge, just excited about it. They're a good team, we recognize that, but we feel that we match up well with them obviously in all parts of the game,'' Sooners coach Bob Stoops said. "That makes it exciting.''
