Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
My only point was Kyle Snyder is a past (2 time) World Champion and Olympic gold medalist at 97 kg.; and at 25 he is in his prime for a wrestler so you would expect him to win.

Heavyweight commitment today from Hogan Swenski. He is class of '22 from York, Pa. Finished off a 25-4 senior year with a 3rd place in the state tourney. Did not place in his first three years. Goes around 6'4 and 240-250 so not much doubt he will be a heavy.

Had the privilege of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher over the weekend. Dad Tom is about 60 and looks like he could still do some damage on the mat. Paddy is enrolling in June and they gave no indication that a red-shirt is in the plans. He is dropping to 157 from his high school 160.

Thanks for posting...at least it's a very realistic drop in poundage. I wonder if Tom Gallagher may be related to the old pro rasslers " The Gallagher Brothers"? They also did a ton of damage on the mat but it was usually with an illegal object they pulled out of their waistband. [LOL]

Thanks for the info, probably the perfect starting weight for him. If Paddy is ready as a frosh at 157 (and I think he is), that could leave us Sasso at 149, then Kharchla at 165, Smith up to 174 and Romero up to 184. That could be a tough stretch of the lineup for opponents.

I remember the Gallagher brothers. If those two brothers are still alive, they would have to be close to 90 years old. I remember watching them on TV on Saturdays and also down in the old Cleveland Arena on Euclid Avenue. If I remember correctly they were both blonde and really created some mayhem. You are correct about the illegal objects but they also were pretty good kickers to the groin and other little subtle maneuvers

Another tidbit on Paddy Gallagher from mom. He is somewhat (to say the least) offended that he never received an offer from Ped State. To say that he is "Motivated" to shove it in their faces would be an understatement. I Love this kid already and he hasn't even gotten here yet. He's was drilling with Greg Elinski (4 time all-american and 2 time NCAA runner up at Ped State) who is a St. Edwards grad and in his early 50's because he is the only person they could find to give him quality drill time. When Elinski found out about this, he immediately got on the phone to Cael Sanderson who was Paddy's 2nd choice to let him know. No BS, this is directly from mom.

With a likely rotation of Sasso one practice and Kharchla the next I think Mr. Elinski can hang 'em up, but hopefully Coach Ryan will offer him a season's pass at the Covelli for his "service to the team."

Just thinking about next year and I realize it's wayyy too early but fall's a long way off. I had thought Malik maybe would move up and the Gonzales kid could go 127 but upon further reflection that may not be in Malik's best interest and besides haven't heard squat about Gonzales yet. So Bucks finished I think 9th at Nats this year and added Gallagher at 157 and Kharchla at 165 and will keep Sammy at 149 where maybe Yianni coming back next year will be his only roadblock since the kid that beat Sammy is moving up a weight. So then Smith goes up to 174 and Romero to 184 and with Malik staying another year at 127 and Tater back at Hwt. that only leaves 133, 141, and 197 as ?s. What I hear on Ech is he's working real hard on mat wrestling and hopefully he's moving in with Steiber (jk about that part but it would be great if he did). That's iffy for sure but between him and D'Emilio 141 should be somewhat improved. 133 is at present a lost cause..we'll see. That leaves 'the rock' at 197. Moving up a weight means no more cutting weight for him so maybe he will turn into 'The Rock'. IMO this lineup could put OSU back into top 5 territory if they stay injury free. Any comments?

New signing named Bryer Hall, a 174 pounder out of Indiana. Took state this year in a dominant way, pinning his way through the bracket. My guess is he will redshirt and then eventually replace either Smith or Romero. Still waiting on Ryan to 'hit a couple homeruns' to get Buckeyes back to the top.

I think you mostly hit the nail on the head. I think Malik stays at 125, he got much bigger but imo he was just about the weight he needed to be...I think he could put on 3-5 lbs more muscle and stay where he's at with ease, and be much improved. Problem with that is that we basically have to sacrifice 133, because I really don't see Decatur turning the corner and as far as I know we have nobody else that can step in there. At 141, Ech is transferring I thought but D'Emilio showed a ton of promise to me, I think he can actually be a damn good wrestler and just took some lumps in his rookie year. Stickley might give him a run at 141 though. As for 197, I think that could be a good weight for Rock, he's not nearly as quick as he used to be and his brawling style could be a better fit there... and hell, he had a bad season but a great tourney, so I'm not out on him at all. But the weights you identified are going to potentially be sore spots.
As to the other weights, I think Malik finally gets to AA at 125. Sasso wins a title at 149 that was robbed from him this year. Gallagher is going to step in and compete right away at 157 and I don't know if he AAs the first year, but I get the sense he will and may even give it a run for a title... he reminds me of Nolf with his aggressive style and killer mentality. Kharchla, if healthy, could seriously win it all... I've talked to some in his circle and close to it, and he was apparently blowing Smith and Romero out of the water... he's legit and it's a travesty we haven't got to watch him yet. We know what we have with Smith and Romero, those guys will place likely high. Tater was strange this year, very disappointing season but somehow gets it done at the nati, hopefully will do so again even though the weight seems pretty young.
In sum, I think the team could be a top 3-5 finisher depending on where the cards fall. Wouldn't be bad at all if that happens, but hopefully the next season we can take the next step.
