Well that was F'd up. Sasso is a national champion to me. As the announcers were saying, they always give that a takedown when that far ankle is grabbed. Incredible match and season. Should be national champion.
And I wasn’t sure the guy from UNC should have been given a takedown 30 seconds earlier. Sammy was next to him, slightly behind him, and had full control of one leg. Very disappointed for Sammy.

edit- Sammy did let go the the leg so that takedown was legit. But it sure looked like Sammy got the winning score in the last 5 seconds.

You're right. I was already celebrating when my wife said UH-OH and I looked back at the screen in disbelief. Must've been the same replay guys we had against Clemson in fb last year.

That was just unbelievable, clear takedown and that's not just me being a homer. I was watching it with some other die hard wrestling guys who know the sport better than anyone, and they all said he got hosed. He deserved better than that, although I wish he would have been more aggressive in the first couple periods. Great year from Sammy though, he'll come back hungry next season.

Also, word is that Echemendia is transferring. Not sure to where but not great news for next year's lineup. Might not be a big blow though, he's got a lot of work to do learning how to wrestle from the mat.

We all know what Ech needs major improvement on. We also know the weakest facet of the Buckeye coaching staff. Ergo, this move unfortunately makes pretty good sense.

Step 1 in Coach Ryan's offseason happened today as Asst. Coach Tervel Dlagnev resigned to accept a position as head of the Nebraska RTC. The move takes him "back home" to where he used to live. Being mentioned as a possible successor is (obviously) Logan Steiber. I'm not sure what kind of a coach Logan would be, but I know from watching many of his matches that the dude knows mat wrestling! Ryan says he will have an announcement "in the coming days". I suppose Bo Jordan who has been a volunteer coach the last couple seasons would also be a possibility.
