Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Smith with the big upset win over 2 seed Valencia, 13-4, and into the semis. I didn't see it happen (was watching the basketball bucks at that moment), but it appeared Valencia suffered an ankle injury in the 2nd period.

Peaking at the right time would be an understatement, seems like his confidence is at an all time high...watch out now....this boy is gonna make it to the finals, book it.

It was tied at 4 when Valencia got hurt. Guy could barely walk and was screaming in pain the last 4 minutes of the match. To his credit he finished. To Smith's credit he kept his focus and took care of business. But after the injury , continuing the match was a joke. When I officiated (not wrestling) we were instructed to never let an injured competitor continue because it opens the official up to liability. Hope Valencia is okay.

Smith is wrestling extremely well and I'm super excited to have him in the semis, but I can't believe Valencia finished the match, he was really hurt. Valencia jumped to a quick 4-2 lead and Smith tied it up when the injury happened... Valencia couldn't even try to stand up from bottom and went for a hail Mary through from his feet because he couldn't shoot. In any event, Smith deserves a ton of credit.

The Romero x2 match was all Demetrius Romero. Very happy for my kid and hope he goes all the way, but Kaleb needs to learn a shot other than a double leg.

Sasso takes care of business as usual, hope he can make it to the finals. I like him against Lewallen in the semis.

Got some guys fighting back in the consolation brackets. All things considered, a good day so far.

Sammy Sasso pin! Into the championship finals!

That wasn't your everyday cradle, it was otherworldly. Boo had a pretty good single leg and somehow Sammy fought that off and rotated himself while locking in the cradle. Great move. I can almost imagine Boo's coach telling him "Son,you were a victim of greatness". And it was no coincidence Sasso made a bee-line over to Jaggers the cradle guru as soon as he finished the fall.
