Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

So at CK, NaTo will definitely be wrestling. Bo should be but no guarantee...not a health issue though, which is a relief.

Also, cool interview with Kollin Moore that talks about his improvement and the role that Snyder, Tervel, Myles, etc. have played. His improvement is off the charts and you can start to understand it with this video. Watch it. LINK

Jordan and brother Jacob Decatur commit to Ohio State. Jordan is the top ranked 120 in the country. Both are class of 2019.

WRESTLING: CUYAHOGA VALLEY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY'S JORDAN AND JACOB DECATUR COMMIT TO OHIO STATE

Jordan is the larger of the two brothers, and the more heralded of the pair, currently ranked No. 1 in the country at 126. Jordan’s top ranking is based largely on his freestyle accolades as he is a two-time Fargo national champion. Jordan was unable to compete in the postseason as a freshman last winter due to a disqualification due to a weigh-in violation, though he was the projected champion. Jordan projects as either a 125 or 133 in college, though much can change in the course of three years.

Jacob isn’t ranked as high as his brother, but he is currently ranked No. 13 in the country at 106 by InterMat. Jacob placed sixth at 106 at Ohio’s Division II state wrestling tournament as a freshman. Jacob projects as a 125 in college.

After 1 full day OSU leads at the CKLV Open:

1. Ohio State 73
2. Virginia Tech 71
3. Minnesota 61.5
4. Cornell 59.5
5. Central Michigan 57

125 - Rodriguez in the semi-finals
133 - Nato in the semi-finals
141 - Fitzgerald lost in the 1st round (Hayes out 4-6 weeks)
149 - Jordan in the semi-finals
157 - Ryan lost in the second round to a Fr. (same result as the dual)
165 - Burcher lost in the 1st round to Valencia (bad draw)
174 - Williams lost in the 1st round (no Bo yet)
184 - Martin in the semi-finals
197 - Moore in the semi-finals
285 - Fox lost in the 1st round (no kyle)

Granted we have some backups in the lineup so this is feast or famine. Nato looked decent, definitely rusty and maybe adjusting to the weight. Tomorrow should be interesting.

Bucks put 3 in finals with Rodriguez, Mic Jordan, and NaTo. The latter two are no surprise but Rodriguez was not even seeded and he is wrestling lights out. He got to finals over about 6 or 7 nationally ranked guys (including the #4 guy overall), and tech falled his guy in semis. Has #2 Joey Dance in the finals. Really hope he keeps it up and makes me eat my words, he's wrestling great. Michael will have the 4 seed, as Chisko got upset at the 1 seed...beat a very good wrestler from CMU 9-4, so he's handling his business. NaTo will gave Micic from Michigan, who is highly ranked and should be a good test. He beat a quality opponent in Mark Grey of Cornell 8-3 to get in.

Unfortunately, Myles Martin fell to highly ranked Zapatsky in semis and Moore lost a major decision to #2 Pfarr of Minnesota. Tough losses but nothing to be ashamed of. Both have very winnable matches to get into the 3rd place matches, which would be a particularly great tourney for Moore. Burcher took 8th and a decent tourney for him.

Currently behind Wisconsin by 5 points but I think we should be able to overcome that with no major upsets. Even if we don't win it, having Snyder, Bo and Hayes out makes it tough and we still managed to be right at the top.

Edit: Martin just majored his opponent from Wisconsin and Moore beat his guy 11-6. Should put us in the lead heading into finals.

Rodriguez loses a close one but NaTo and Micah take titles home. NaTo won 3-2 over Micic and Micah won convincingly 7-3 over the #8 wrestler on the country. Myles teched his guy and Moore beat the #8 guy in the country 9-7, great tourney for him.

Bucks edge out Wisconsin for the title too, so a pretty good day.

After the tournament I feel good about the team. I feel great about Nato, Synder, and the Jordans. I have faith in the development of JRod, Hayes (but a little worried about coming back from injury), Moore, and Martin. Really nice to see Moore beat the #6 guy. I worry about 165. We might be able to afford one hole in the line-up but need Burcher to progress at 165; we can't afford two holes.

Agreed 100%. I worry a little on Burcher but hopefully he can qualify and get a win or two at NCAA's. Not sure you'll get much more out of him this year. The biggest issue is the regression of Ryan at 157 because that shouldn't be a hole in our lineup. Nonetheless, I've seen nothing to suggest it won't be a weak spot for the rest of the year unfortunately.

Nice luxury to have a pedigree like that ready to step in, but is 141 a natural for Pletcher? I thought I had seen him going 133 after Tomasello is gone.

I just looked and see we have a dual with Missou on Thursday, so we'll get some answers real quickly on Pletcher. They have the number 8 on IM - Matt Manley.

I was honestly pretty surprised to hear Pletcher would wrestle at 133...kid is cutting a ton to get down there, 141 could be a blessing in disguise. It will be fun to see how he does this season, has a ton of talent. Bummer on Hayes though, that is a really big loss...no replacing him in all likelihood.

Damn. Unfortunately I think that rules us out of the running for a title this year. A shame! With the situation at 157 and 165 it would be tough enough. But losing Hayes it seems nearly impossible.

It certainly hurts but I do think it is still doable. OK State will have more wrestlers win matches and PSU will be tough, but NaTo, BoJo and Snyder should all score tons of points and I could easily see each one winning a title...I think each will be in the finals. Then Micah could be a high AA and I could see Martin in the finals, but those are wildcards. Moore and Rodriguez would have to win some matches and both would likely need to AA now. And of course it will be interesting to see if Pletcher can make a dent...kid has the technique and skill to win some matches as well. It would take a perfect storm now most likely but not completely undoable.
