Daton Fix will announce his college choice tomorrow. He is the No. 3 overall pound for pound recruit and the No. 1 wrestler at 132 lbs. He could project at 125 or 133, my guess is ultimately 133 but potentially 125 his freshman year if need be. He is down to Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Nebraska and North Carolina. Ohio State is in excellent shape here and I really like our chances. OK State would be the house favorite except they have Piccininni at 125 and Kaid Brock at 133 for the next 4 years most likely (both are top freshmen). PSU you just think would have no room around that weight with all the commitments they have got, namely Suriano (who I like over Piccininni as best frosh at 125).

Nebraska and North Carolina could be pretty open but so is Ohio State...I would like him immediately over Rodriguez at 125 and I think Pletcher bumps up to 141 in the next year or so. Link below mentiones possibly having Decatur, Fix and Pletcher at 125, 133 and 141...that would be an incredible start to a lineup.

I like where we are at but OK State will be tough to beat and you can never count out Sanderson at PSU, even with seemingly no spots/scholarship money left. Anyways, here is to pulling in Fix, he would be a HUGE addition, one of the best out there.

Pretty excited to see how the squad performs today @ASU. Bo and Kyle open with pretty good competition, and it should be pretty good gauge to see how comfortable Bo is with his more natural weight.

In an unrelated note, I know Isaiah White is now at NDC, does anyone in the know have an idea if the door is completely shut on him being able to come back?

133: Brendan Fitzgerald (4-0) vs. No. Ali Naser - Anyone know what is up with NaTo? Fitz loses (4-3)
141: No. 12 Ke-Shawn Hayes (2-1) vs. Tyler Sage - Tech fall for Hayes (9-3)
149: No. 7 Micah Jordan (8-0) vs. Josh Maruca - Late reversal takes a major decision away from Jordan (12-3). Looked like Jordan was trying to work on take downs all match. Did not show much effort to ride.
157: No. 9 Jake Ryan (2-1) vs. Josh Shields - Ryan is out-efforted. From giving up two at the end of 1, through the end, just not what we'd want to see. 157 and 165 are definitely the soft spot. (12-6)
165: Cody Burcher (6-1) vs. No. 9 Anthony Valencia - Cody just not as good, hung in against a higher rated guy. (12-9)
174: No. 1 Bo Jordan (0-0) vs. No. 8 Zahid Valencia - No Bo Jordan and ASU wins by a fall. (12-15)
184: No. 2 Myles Martin (3-0) vs. Conner Small - Martin returns the domination with a tech fall (17-15)
197: No. 12 Kollin Moore (7-0) vs. Austyn Harris - Great showing by Moore with a pin. Looking forward to seeing him improve even more over the year. (23-15)
HWT: No. 1 Kyle Snyder (0-0) vs. No. 4 Tanner Hall - Just a pleasure to watch Kyle with a major decision (27-15).

Basically most of it went exactly the way we would have wanted given Bo and NaTo were out. 157 and 165 continue to be the soft spot.

I think that is still up in the air. He apparently did not qualify based on both SAT and some core classes so there is work to do at NDC before he can even think about transferring. But he would have been great to have in that line up at either 157 or 165 because those are big weaknesses.

Good summary. Our backups are very limited athletically and if the starters are out we're gonna lose those matches most of the time - same as last year. Jake gassed very early in that match against a guy he should beat. Was looking forward to Bo vs Valencia. Guess we'll have to wait till March for that. Kyle looked dominating against a guy that is probably an AA this year. He'll have a lot of those matches this year when he's in the lineup. Ke-Shawn looked good. Definitely looking forward to seeing his progress. Same with Moore.

Nice performance overall, goes without saying that it would have been a pretty big blowout if NaTo and Bo wrestled. Really wanted to see Bo go up against Valencia but Burcher looks like he hung tough against Anthony Valencia. 157 is concerning, not really sure why Ryan appears to be so out of it to start the year. Really glad to see Moore do so well at 197, we need him to keep it up if we want to come out on top. And outstanding performance against Tanner Hall by Snyder, Tanner is a real tough kid and to smoke him like that is remarkable.

I'm thinking the key to B1G or even a national title this year is Kollin Moore. Representing the US at the Junior Worlds for freestyle over Chase Singletary, he's got the resume and potential to place this year, I think. He's behind two seniors in the B1G with Pfarr at Minnesota and Studebaker at Nebraska. McCutheon is right there as a junior at Penn State. I don't think he can pull a MyMar and win over Cox, no way, but none of us really know what he can achieve.

Agreed, Moore has a huge ceiling and could go a long way if he keeps developing...very open weight as well.

Pretty good meet from what I saw. Smoked both teams. Beat KSU 36-13 and shut out CSU 52-0.

Thought we really looked good from the top position and very aggressive. Another disappointing loss for Ryan, who is going to drop out of the rankings here soon...unfortunately there is no solution unless he starts wrestling better...no way we bump up Hayes and Micah to pull the redshirt off Pletcher, hurts both those wrestlers and too risky with a true frosh. Anyways, really liked what I saw from Kollin Moore again...kid is crazy explosive and love his fireman's carry...absolutely dominated tonight. Rodriguez looked slick too, really strung his moves together well. Hayes has some nasty roll-through tilts, I like him on top. Unsurprisingly, Micah, Myles and Snyder were untouchable. No NaTo or Bo, both battling injury I believe. Glad I finally got to watch them wrestle.

Had a chance to watch the Kent/CSU replay last night... pretty much echo RB07OSU's comments. Hard to say how good both of those teams are. CSU looked especially bad and KSU didn't have the one or two guys that are potential AA's they normally do. Really interested to see how JRod, Hayes and Moore do against good competition in a tourney setting. I think Vegas is the first good chance to see that. I like what I see from Burcher. He goes 100% all the time and I think he'll limit the damage against a top 10 opponent in a dual and we'll need that to win some of the top matches.

Jake Ryan could really use someone to push him in the room. But having said that he's so limited offensively and athletically I don't see a lot of improvement from last year at all. Maybe even a slide backward.

I saw a few guys hit Logan's patented tilt including Myles. Nice to see them incorporate that even if the competition wasn't the best. Myles is a tough match-up at 184 against anyone not named Gabe Dean or Bo Nickel

DeCatur's are big pickups, pumped for that. Carr is up next, bank it. As for the meet, pretty clear CSU is way down this year and are pretty awful this year, and agreed that Kent State is down too, so will have to reserve a lot of judgment for Cliff Keen. Especially agreed on Burcher though, I have always loved watching him...goes for big moves but always is full go and will harass his opponents with constant attacks and physicality...think he definitely limits opponents in major duals even if he doesn't win the match. And Jake is certainly limited, but I have no idea why his defense is so down this year...a lot of that is effort or technique within his control to me. He won't AA or make a run, but the points he is giving up is really frustrating because he was shutting down the offense of some really good opponents last year.

I noticed the Logie Bear tilts being hit left and right as well, I love to see that, great move. With lesser competition, that is really the time you want to go for it. I got really good at that tilt by hitting in live matches against lesser opponents...gets you comfortable getting into the saddle and loading it up...feels really unorthodox for awhile, so it is good to feel comfortable with it in a match so you can load one up against a good opponent. I hope we keep seeing it.

Really pumped for CK though, we will really see what we are made of there and hopefully NaTo/BoJo will be healthy by then.
