Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Looked like ltOSU signed two top recruits (#2 & # 3 from one missive), plus a couple more that could or could not develop.....Great job.. Go Bucks
OSU did well and could still improve depending on Reenan. Luke Pletcher is ranked #1 at 138 and #10 on the pound for pound. Isaiah White is #1 at 160 and #14 on pound for pound. Elijah Cleary is ranked #14 at 170 and unranked pound for pound. Snyder is ranked #18 at 195 and unranked pound for pound. & Fritz Schierl is currently unranked in any pub. The lineup seems tailored to accommodate both Pletcher and White. Not sure about Kevin Snyder but having his brother at OSU can't hurt his growth. There's not a lot of info on Schierl other some Greco stuff.

It was a very good class that fills some crucial holes...elite talent filling 2 of the 3 truly open weights. The only weight not addressed (but potentially could be if Reenan comes here) is 197, but not a big deal in my books. I think Snyder could develop and I'm interested to see Moore there, who I think could be solid.

All in all a very good class that also leaves us plenty of $ to chase after Reenan and the top guys in '17.

WRESTLING: A LOOK FORWARD AT OHIO STATE'S RECRUITING

On the heels of a third-place finish at the 2016 NCAA Wrestling Championship, the Buckeye wrestling team is already looking ahead to the future and hoping to sign some of the top talent in the country. The Buckeyes fared well in recruiting recently, which paid dividends thanks to NCAA champions Kyle Snyder, Myles Martin, and Nathan Tomasello.

While Tom Ryan is the program’s head coach, he is happy to let two-time NCAA champion J Jaggers take the wheel when it comes to recruiting.

Let’s take a look at some of the recruits on the radar of J Jaggers and the rest of the Ohio State staff.

At least PSU didn't get them. That should help even out the future playing field a bit.

Exactly, both were pegged for PSU. Nobody saw this coming, sure makes the future more interesting and likely a 3 team race between Ohio State, PSU, and Iowa. I know I'm stating the obvious but if they went to PSU there would be about zero chance of anyone beating them anytime soon.

My name is Kyle Snyder and I'm a member of the 2016 Olympic Freestyle Wrestling Team. I'm 20 years old and my goal is to become one of the greatest wrestlers that ever walked on our planet. I'm trying to raise money so my family can travel to Rio, Brazil and watch me compete in August. It will mean a lot to me to have my family in attendance at this very special event. Because I'm still a college athelete, I'm restricted from accepting money provided by professional sports organizations, agents, and boosters of Ohio State University. Please help me reach my goal of raising enough money to get my family to Rio. I'm extremely grateful for everyone's support of this cause.

He's almost halfway there to his 20K goal.

What are our chances with David Carr? Every big-time program is after him and it would be great to see him at OSU

Pretty early but we look really, really good right now. Kid has unlimited potential at the next level, don't even care what weight he wrestles. My guess right now would be 157/165. It's recruiting and anything can change, but I think Carr is going to be a Buckeye. Ryan is all over that one and I think he is an ideal fit here.

Also, a very thoughtful article from Flo on our lineup next year. Basically right on par with what I think our lineup will look like next year.

I know you have the inside scoop so that's good to hear. He is an elite type talent and we need to keep him at home. There was some chatter on the USA wrestling forums that Cael has taken an active role in his recruiting but I trust Ryan on any instate kid not named David Taylor :)

Well Cael is putting on full-court press for sure, Carr is a stud. But everyone is going after him and I like where we are. I really like our chances as of now though. If the decision were today, it would be the Buckeyes for sure. I REALLY like our odds on getting him to Cbus.

But anymore I am pretty cautious, given that my own Alex Marinelli committed to Ohio State and switched to Iowa. Wrestling recruiting can be finicky.
