Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Ryder Rogotzke is a 182 pounder from Minnesota that is rated in the Top 20 for 2023. He was committed to the Naval Academy but recently de-committed and will now sign with Ohio State. The future back end of the lineup is really starting to look solid with Feldman at Heavy, Geog at 197, Rogotzke at 185, and Welsh at 174.
Plus Shumate who won Cleveland State open at 184

Just read up on Ryder, seems like a stud and explosive for a heavier guy. Back end of the lineup looks really stout now, which was the missing piece of the puzzle. Only possible gap I see is 125 but jury is out on Gonzales for the time being. We're going to have a murderer's row with Mendez, Bouzakis, Gallagher and now the upper weights we just added to consecutive classes. Obviously things need to pan out as they look on paper, but the paper couldn't look better than this. We could go on a run with these guys and seriously give PSU a run for the best college wrestling team for a long stretch.

197.. Hoffman in the clutch gains a major dec. by a 18-7 score. Down by 3 with one more match!
285.. Tater was good but fell 3-2 to Gordon.

Maybe a better result with Paddy Gallagher and Carson Kharchla in the action, or a point here or there for
D'Emilio or Orndorff. Back at it tomorrow.

Yikes...without Paddy and Kharchla, I would expect a struggle but not a loss. I'm sorry but that's just not ok. I didn't expect much this year but we're not performing to be straight to the point. It seems half our roster is regressing and it's disappointing.

Ohio State @ Indiana match results. Hoosiers haven't beat Buckeyes in a dual since 2006. And they didn't tonight!

125.. McCrone filling in for Gonzalez who was filling in for Heinselman. Jacob Moran beat him 4-2
even though McCrone got the point for 2:00 riding time.
133.. Jesse Mendez had 8 take downs in his major over Henry Porter by a 20-5 score.
141.. Dylan D'Emilio had 4 tds himself while beating Caden Rooks in a major 10-2.
149.. It took Sasso 2 minutes and 17 seconds to get Graham Rooks in his world famous cradle. BAM! 14-3 OSU.
157.. Gallagher coming off a 6 week rehab was rusty to say the least and Derek Galchek took a 5-4 dec.
165.. Isaac Wilcox had 4 tds in a 9-7 dec. over Nick South. Announcer said Kharchla will return sometime this season.
174.. Best match of the night as #8 Ethan Smith and #15 D.J. Washington went at it. Smith had 2 3rd per. tds to pull out a 9-4 dec.
184.. Kaleb Romero had no trouble with Drayton Harris, recording a fall at 1:01 of the 2nd after 6 tds in the 1st.
197.. Shumate filling in for Geog (hurt this week in practice) who was supposed to fill in for Hoffman. He lost 9-1.
285.. Tater also looked rusty, and also winded against James Bullock who started the match 12-1 and ended it 13-1.
Final score 26-13 Buckeyes. Need to get healthy..this is starting to remind me of OSU football!

Thought Wilcox did a great job - dominated until late. Tough spot for Shumate - he had been wrestling 184 last time out. Tate was extremely disappointing - still unsure how he was an upgrade from Traub.

St.Ed's is 5 th going into tonight's matches, the only Ohio school that's even close. It's basically a two-way battle between Blair and Stillwater,OK. Graham is 20th. Brock Herman lost in the quarters to Ty Wilson from Dublin Scioto who's committed to Penn. Bouzakis and Blaze went out early. Rocco Welsh is an animal and is in semis. Another Ohio kid named Ethan Birden is also still wrestling, not sure if he's committed anywhere.

Has Stillwater been an elite HS program? I know OK State has a historic program but I didn't know the local HS program was that good.

Stillwater H.S. is ranked #3 in the U.S. for wrestling. I'd say that's pretty good. Their coaches must have a good rep as well as they recruited a couple Ohio kids last year with the names Voinovich (Brecksville) and Jordan (St. Paris Graham). Also I believe college superstar Daton Fix is an alum.
