Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

So proud of these girls for not just going through the motions being down so many points and tying it up.

Poor defense on the inbound/game-winner, but still, good effort tying it up.

I like the direction McGuff has the program going. Just need to keep building.

Yeah, I'm never a fan of leaving the inbounder all alone, especially with a long, tall player like Hart at their disposal.

Worse then that they left the inbounder alone then didn't even match up with the other players out there. Tw of the girls were busy discussing who was guarding who as they threw the ball in . They will be scary next year though. And quite frankly those refs should be fired for that end game. Yes it's highly unlikely OSU gets even close to the basket but do your job.

If anyone cares:shake: , the women's team iis going to play all of the teams that played in the Final Four last season.
Ohio State women's basketball releases nonconference schedule including UConn, South Carolina, Notre Dame

The UConn women have won 10 national titles since 1995, while Notre Dame has been in the title game in three of the last four years. South Carolina went 34-2 last year before losing to Notre Dame in the Final Four.

In its early top 25 list for next season, ESPN has UConn at No. 1, South Carolina at No. 2 and Notre Dame at No. 6.

The Buckeyes, who return all five starters, are ranked No. 13. It looked like Ohio State may have been able to make a March run last year, but the Buckeyes lost to North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Another big time transfer for Coach McGuff and the gang:
Ohio State has landed North Carolina transfer Stephanie Mavunga, per multiple sources. Mavunga, an All-ACC performer last year with the Tarheels, decided on the Scarlet and Gray over Tennessee and Kentucky.

Earlier this summer, she made her decision to leave North Carolina and Mavunga had this to say at the time of her decision:

"It's with a heavy heart that I have asked for, and been granted permission to talk to other teams and explore transfer opportunities," said Mavunga. "I wish to thank Coach Hatchell, the whole coaching staff and my teammates and fans for their support over the two years I've spent in Chapel Hill. I have nothing but great things to say about the program and I am very grateful for the mentorship and development that I received along the way at UNC. They have helped me tremendously!

"From the big things to the little things, they've been a part of my greatest support system. I was molded into a player who earned first team All-ACC honors, and was even blessed with the opportunity to represent my country in Canada during the Pan American games this summer. I wish everyone in the program the best of success. I have decided to look at transfer opportunities for personal reasons. As we all know, once a Tar Heel, always a Tar Heel."
Adding the talented post gives the Buckeyes a true chance at National Championship contention, especially when paired with top-flight guard Kelsey Mitchell. Mavunga was North Carolina's second-leading scorer at 14.4 points per game.

She was the last piece of the heralded 2013 class, that have all since left the Tar Heels program.

Former Indiana Miss Basketball from Brownsburg/Indianapolis, IN*. Her brother played at Miami (OH) a few years ago and won a state title with Gordon Hayward back in 2008. Think he's spent some time in Europe since then.

*Also the home of the famous Mark Titus.

Just sayin': They are putting together a pretty good "red shirt" team for this coming season.

Ohio State has landed North Carolina transfer Stephanie Mavunga, per multiple sources. She will redshirt next season and have two seasons of eligibility beginning with the 2016-17 season. The Buckeyes added transfer Sierra Calhoun, a 6-foot-guard, from Duke in June. She also is redshirting.

Just sayin… The team will be very good this season even without the transfers. Next year with the transfers they will be excellent and I might be talking Final Four excellent.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- ESPN's 24-hour college basketball marathon, a must-watch for any die-hard hoops head, will begin with a game featuring the Ohio State women's basketball team.

The Buckeyes' home game against three-time defending national champion UConn on Monday, Nov. 16 will tip off at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN2, and start 24 hours of college basketball across ESPN's networks.

The Buckeyes and Huskies will play the only women's game of the marathon, which concludes on Tuesday, Nov. 17, with a game between Kansas and Michigan State in Chicago.

I know it is still football season but there is anarticle over on 11W about the Ohio State women's program at http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-athletics/2015/10/61563/womens-basketball-media-days

It will be interesting to see how they perform early in the season with there a tough matchups against the final four teams from last year but I think they will hold their own and maybe win some. I might be stretching things a little but I think in another season the women's team will make it to the Final Four with the talent that they have currently and what will be available for next year.
