Thought the Buckeyes were playing Notre Dame, the way the leprechaun was swatting tOSU shots away from the rim. Or the Hawkeye I guess. Caitlin Clark was as advertised, if not better. Thoroughly dominated whomever the Buckeyes put on her, as Thierry, Cotie, Jacy and Shumate all tried their hand at holding her in check. Triple double tells the tale of how well that worked. Her assists were crisp and on-target. Fronting their big worked for a while, but CC's lobs were perfect. The Buckeyes started out hot, but Iowa clamped down on Mikesell, and Harris couldn't find the bottom of the net at all. Mikaslauvoka (sp) went 0 for the night, and Thierry got pounded and pushed around under the basket, so she didn't get her usual alotment of rebounds. Given a 30+ loss, cannot say the refs caused it, but it seemed to me that Iowa got away with many, many infractions that were called against the Buckeyes. As skinny as she was, CC was all over Cotie, to the point where McMahon responded by hooking her with an elbow, and CC stepped backwards and then flopped - and the ref called a technical on Cotie. PS, I've ranted about the announcers filling the air with 'tidbits' and not announcing the play (such as who got the foul), but four minutes into the game, they apparently decided Iowa was going to win it, and 80% of their sound bytes were Iowa flavored. Congrats Ladies, now let's see you make a deep run in the dance. Not certain there's a chance (or a big one) that the Final Four will be all B10, but am betting on at least two of the finalists are ours. Go Bucks!
