Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

Women's college basketball Way-Too-Early Top 25 for 2023-24

1. UConn Huskies

2. Utah Utes

3. LSU Tigers

4. Iowa Hawkeyes

5. Indiana Hoosiers

6. UCLA Bruins

7. South Carolina Gamecocks

8. Ohio State Buckeyes

The Big Ten finished this season with three teams ranked in the top 10. It should start 2023-24 that way, too. Jacy Sheldon's decision to come back stabilizes the Buckeyes significantly. She will be a leader of a team full of young talent. Cotie McMahon was the Big Ten's freshman of the year and looks to be one of the game's next stars. Rikki Harris and Taylor Thierry are also talented scorers and playmakers. Taylor Mikesell's shooting and leadership will be missed, but with Sheldon back to lead the press, Ohio State will be a Final Four contender.

9. Stanford Cardinal

10. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Just sayin': Predicted to be a "contender" next year too.

Jacy Sheldon’s return to Ohio State strengthens Buckeyes as transfer destination

Columbus, Ohio is looking pretty good for players looking for a chance to compete late in March.

All of those positives don’t even mention that Ohio State was one game away from playing in the Final Four. Had a few more shots fallen, the Buckeyes’ season might still be going on from Dallas, Texas.

Ohio State has a gap with guard Taylor Mikesell’s career ending in the Elite Eight. It’s a tough hole to fill from a player who was effective from beyond the arc and led the Scarlet and Gray on and off the court. However, with a team like the OSU has, there’s bound to be someone who fits that role well who wants to win now.

With the Buckeyes, that’s a possibility.

Would opine that tOSU Lady Bucks needs a sure-shot, as well as at least one big - that's a player. Got beat up pretty well, when there was a coordinated big on opforce. Thierry can play a four, McMahon the 3, but need a 5, and maybe another 4. Hopefully Maddie Greene recovers well enough to play/share point with Jacy.

Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball team were well into their championship battle with Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers. The matchup generated plenty of controversy both during and after the game, reflected by thoughts from standout Buckeye freshman Cotie McMahon on the abundance of quick whistles.
