Game Thread Ohio State vs Oklahoma, 09/09/17 @ 7:30 ET (ABC)

Well the Sooners have a number of motivating factors playing in for them too:

-Baker Mayfield pushing hard to clean up his reputation after being arrested in Fayetteville.

granted i didn't pay a lot of attention. but based on what i did see from ou over the past several months it led me to believe they didn't take the off season very seriously. i actually see that as a negative but to each his own i suppose... besides, im not sure how winning a game on the field helps your reputation off the field. maybe personal character is irrelevant in the face of wins in norman? ive never been so i have no idea.

-OU players will push hard to get a win for their former coach Bob on his 57th birthday.

anytime someone is being honored for something outside of what is physically happening on the field in that game its a distraction and always worries me when it involves my team. distractions tend to be bad.

-No doubt they’ll be motivated for Joe Mixon who still gets crap for a stupid mistake he made three years ago after his 18th birthday.

joe mixon... the bengal..?? is tOSU playing cincinnait this week??? i have no idea what issue you are referring to. can you explain what possible relevance it has to this game?

-They’ll be looking for redemption after what happened last year vs. the Buckeyes in Norman. They have more to prove this time around, even with the game being in front of a rowdy crowd at the Horseshoe.

valid

-Lee Corso made a critical error by saying the Sooners were “pretenders” on ESPN last week. Baker Mayfield still has those words retweeted on his Twitter account. Yeah Lee, I guess your alma mater Free Shoes University is no different after getting slaughtered by Bama! :slappy:

valid

so revenge for the curb stomp we gave you previously and a mean thing some random talking head said about your team. i mean.... valid n all, but... only one of those things is something most of the rest of the teams on our schedule can't claim..

I wouldn't be so sure. Your version of Austin Kendall may have been behind OU's fuel for motivation this year.

Eyes rolling. You know the difference between someone running at the mouth in front of a camera and an anonymous individual, of equal likelihood OU or tOSU, making a change to a Wiki?

I hoped that your return would yield a quality poster.

It's good to hope. Out.

if you, as an athlete, are banking on motivation via disrespect on a wiki page... i don't like your chances. at all. like, not even a little bit.

its like saying tOSU players are actively pinning posts by our new friend rcsooner to their lockers. *rolleyes*

Are you really comparing your backup quarterback opening his mouth to someone putting something on a Wikipedia page?

I missed xrayrandy but from what the old-timers say, this dude is doing the EXACT same schtick....

He's no XrayRandy

In fact I'd say he's a pretty typical visiting troll from the mid 2000's. Gives you a good idea why you don't see much of it anymore I think. It's just a very tired act.

Interesting about all the hype associated with Mayfield. JT was clearly the better QB in last year's game. He was on point last year with most of his throws and threw zero interceptions. Mayfield is a dangerous QB but when pressured has the tendency to throw it into coverage because he trusts his arm. He's going to make his plays for sure, but I expect a couple INT's by the good guys. Question is: Will he be forced to throw it 60 times because they can't run the ball.

Again I go back to a conference that plays defense versus one that seems to have forgotten how to. Sorry if that seems BASIC.

But where was that "motivation" during the first 2.5 quarters vs. IU??? Your players heard "31-0" all offseason, did they not?

Were was your defense first series against UTEP? Same answer as ours... once they adjusted it was game over.

Only OU motivation is we manhandled you in your house. Now you come to our house where you play against a superior opponent that was embarrassed the last time they played a top 10 team

Stop speaking on things you know nothing about. OU can and will run the ball effectively. But why would they need to rely on the run when Baker can just carve up OSU's putrid secondary? OU has the best OLINE in the country which will nullify OSUs biggest strength. (Dline)

It's obvious you guys are terrified by the way you keep bringing up last year as if it has any significance. You lost your best playmaker and didn't replace him. Meanwhile OU has playmakers all over the field. Mayfield is gonna tear your D apart, and is obviously the much better college QB than Barrett which is why he will win th3 Heisman this year. JT won't be a finalist, and probably won't even be in the discussion for being a finalist.
