Game Thread Ohio State vs Oklahoma, 09/09/17 @ 7:30 ET (ABC)

Just based on pure statistics, there are very few programs you expect to come into Ohio Stadium and win a night game there. It's the USCs and Texases that do it. But then there was this Va Tech team that busted my confidence. I didn't think they had a chance going in, and we all know how that turned out.

Oklahoma has come in here and beat us way back when on a FG. Baker Mayfield can get hot, and it he can avoid throwing the ball to Buckeyes, this game will be very interesting. He also has to avoid those DL monsters that will be coming for him. On the other side of the ball, OU has the best defense in the Big 12, which is like complimenting someone for being the least ugly person in a room of ugly people. I sense it's not going to be all that interesting after a half, but we will see. Stranger things have happened, but having a 33 year old head coach on the sideline, and not a veteran coach who has won a NC, would seem to make it more improbable. But then I remember those damned Hokies, that evil Bud Foster, and his Zero Coverage Bear Front scheme. :)

Well all I know is our linebackers made life miserable for Sean White in the Sugar. I would expect JT Barrett to be roughed up a bit by Obo and Caleb Kelly.
That wasn't Sugar.

Sean Kelly failed to crack 10 yards on the ground in 7 of his starts during the regular season. I can't imagine why he'd be a good comparison here. Also, Kelly missed the last two regular season games due to injuries to that arm and then broke it on the first drive against you. This will essentially be a season opener.

Both of those teams were very good (Texas was a monster), and both were pretty fortunate to escape with the victory.

Indeed.

Baker can light it up, and the back end of the OSU defense will be pretty young with only Ward returning (Arnette was the 5th/6th DB, and Smith/Fuller played a lot as backups, but still). That's what concerns me, especially with the decent probability of a brand new guy starting like Kendall Sheffield. This is going to be a pretty good secondary by november, but September is a challenge.
