Oklahoma S Will Sunderland has been suspended indefinitely, coach Lincoln Riley announced Monday in a news release.
Sunderland was charged with misdemeanor concealing stolen property by Oklahoma City police June 13 and a warrant for his arrest was issued two days later, accompanied by a $2,000 bond. According to court records, the date of Sunderland's offense was March 15.
As of Monday night, neither court nor jail records showed Sunderland had been arrested.
Sunderland played in eight games in 2016, recording 15 tackles as a sophomore and an interception against Texas, when he provided injury relief for S Ahmad Thomas.
Sunderland is Oklahoma's fourth player arrested this offseason. Early-enrollee QB Chris Robison and reserve DB Ronnie LaRue were arrested April 9 in Norman for public intoxication while star QB Baker Mayfield was arrested Feb. 25 in Fayetteville, Ark., on charges of public intoxication, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and fleeing.
Mayfield reached a plea deal with prosecutors last week and was ordered to pay fines on three of the four charges. The Oklahoma program assigned him 35 hours of community service and university alcohol education, as well. Mayfield will not miss playing time as a result of the arrest in 2017.
