Game Thread Ohio State vs Oklahoma, 09/09/17 @ 7:30 ET (ABC)

My summation is that if there aren't big yardage plays being made, then this O is sunk.
I also acknowledge that it's damn hard to go undefeated any season in pretty much any sport.
I don't like seeing players go down, and truthfully, I wasn't happy when Andrews went down. I think he's a very good player. Oddly enough, it sometimes seems as though those kind of curve balls mess with our defense more than usual. Who knows if Flowers would have been such an impressive force if Andrews had been in.
Anyway... just spit-balling.

My prediction is that we will win our next big home game vs. let's say Penn State, and everyone on here will be like, "Where was this offense vs. Oklahoma?" Same crappy game every year. Wash, rinse, repeat! Starting to think the issues aren't with the assistant coaches. I thought Cincinnati gave Michigan a good game for 3.5 quarters. Maybe Fickell wasn't as bad as we thought. I can guarantee that our linebacking core wouldn't have kept getting beat like they were last night.

Well, the hubris will now be replaced by a bit of humility and honest reflection. Coach Meyer and his staff have a lot to think about, no?

Then perhaps we should hope Army throws for 400 yards. What more could result in really honest reflection? My point was simply that the issues that they have to think about are the same issues they had to think about during the off season after the last, supposedly, soul cleansing beating.

I posted last night that the lack of fire in the Buckeyes was very evident. A few others have noted the team playing scared. Mayfield was pumped from the get go and he put the team on his back and led them. No one from the Bucks showed any leadership or emotion last night, sans a time or two. Just like having 6 starting WRs tells me we don't have any, maybe having 8 Captains means we have some struggles in this area as well. I recall Urban saying he wanted an angry team during camp, I think he saw this issue early on. I`m concerned this team is going on a Cooper like journey where there was great individual talent but not a team. Good enough to win lots of games against inferior talent but not to beat cohesive talented teams.

Remember when Urban first came here ...

Remember (2) years ago when the question was who should start? IIRC most were in favor of JT over CJ. Someone mentioned why should it matter when all they will be doing is handing off to Zeke.

It matters!

My 2¢ ~ let's see who can play this year / no redshirts. (3) years ago was different as the Buckeyes were in the VT game until the final minute. Last nite Ohio State got taken to the woodshed and looked uninterested. Change the culture or die with it.

And did I mention Saban looks better and better with each passing year. No pun intended. A couple years ago he changed his qb after game 1 or 2 IIRC. Saban doesn't settle for mediocrity. Of course, having the best recruiting class year after year helps, but you still have to play the game. And why do you play? To Win the Game!

Yielding back the balance of my time ...

The truth is for years Urban's spread had a schematic advantage He won big games with Leak Tebow Braxton Cardske and JT not all timers as passers etc. His offense has aged and it's over. Give Wilson the opportunity to cobble together an offense that can win.

I've seen this message a couple of times here and on twitter. Call me confused but is that not Urban was supposed to do in the offseason? I thought this was Wilson's offence from the get go. Kind of meaningless to have a dedicated OC if Urban is getting too involved in the game plan and play calling.
