Ohio State vs #14 Wisconsin (official game thread)

Honestly, I love Jamar to death and I said some very, very bad things last week that I am extremely ashamed of. I would like to apologize to everyone on this board as well as the players and parents who also visit frequent this board. I was totally classless and was being a poor loser. Also thanks to administration for not banning me when truly they could have. Anyway, no offense to Jamar, but I really wish Evan would take over this team. Not as point guard(because Butler is our best option), but as a scoring threat. Sometimes I feel as if Evan plays a little timid because he's just a frosh. I can see him easily scoring 20 a game if he takes over. Team played their hearts out today and whatever or whomever helped Twigs develop his game more this year deserves a lot of credit. I have been pleasantly surprised with his play this year. I almost hate when he goes to the bench in favor of Kosta.

Wich goes to show we may be a year away from something special. A strong finish, with or without wins, just as long as we fight the whole time, could prep this team for a downright dominating season next year.

I'm not saying this season's a wash. Just looking to the future instead of letting the present make me break shit.

2nd half is where we lost a few of those games

North Carolina- Up 3 At The Half And Lose By 11
Butler- Up 10 At The Half And Lose By 19
Purdue- Up 7 At The Half And Lose By 7

the Butler game was the worst

losses to Iowa and Michigan on the road were just flat out bad losses that hurt the tourney resume alot

and the other thing that hurt was only having 3 true road wins against Illinois Penn State and Northwestern

It is very slim that they get into the tourney now, given the road record wins @ Indiana and @ Minnesota will be hard to come by and the trouble against ranked teams doesnt help against Purdue and Michigan State

Othello, where art thou?

how many minutes did he play in the second half? I like Dallas playing, Koufos is growing, Terwilliger is solid, but I still think Othello needs the majority of the minutes.

so many thoughts, all have pretty much been said for the last 4 months...this team is a broken record, but when Matta gets it fixed (this year or next) it will play a very fine tune.

We held them to 58 points. The defense did its job. We lost because we only scored 53 points, just like against Indiana.

Bingo. Why would people lament only allowing 58 points against Bucky? That's well below our average. Texas and Indiana, better teams than the Buckeyes, played man to man at home against Wisconsin, and still lost. The Badgers are just a just a very tough out this season, regardless of the strategy employed. Zone was the correct strategy if anything based on Bo Ryan's team's prior history. Half the looks which Bohannon got were partial openings at best. Last season, he nor anyone on the team, makes those with any kind of efficiency. It all came down to making shots, which the Buckeyes do, in part because of the Badgers' defense, but in part because of a lack of execution. I mean the majority of the Buckeyes' basket throughout were as a direct result of a decisive size advantage and gimme putbacks. That tells you how poorly the perimeter players: Butler, Turner, Lighty, and Diebler; played on offense.

Young teams struggle. Did you honestly think we would lose 73 percent of our scoring from last year, not to mention our biggest defensive presence since I've been alive and compete for the NC? The tourney would be great, but I'm more interested in Matta teaching these kids and prepping them for a sick ass season next year. Do close losses to great teams suck? You betcha. Did I expect 3 losses and a trip to the final four? Uh...no.

I wasnt expecting a Final Four title contending team, I thought they would at least make the tourney though.

I dont mind the close losses to good teams like Wisconsin, its the losses to terrible teams like Michigan and Iowa that suck

The effort has been there all year and with the exception of the A&M game early they have been in every game this season. Close losses are still losses but with a made shot or a defensive stop at the right time this team could be in the same position as another young team in the Big 10. This team is just as talented as Purdue, they just haven't gotten the breaks at the right times.

I hope Koufos decides to stay and experience what so many players for Matta have gotten to enjoy since his arrival in Columbus, A Big 10 Championship.

Dont post too much about the team or games but the last 48 seconds of the game was unacceptable. Excuse me for being negative, but using 2 timeouts and having a chance to tie the game and come up with that shot is absolutely unacceptable.

Also, looked like many players were afraid of taking the last shot. FWIW

Not much to say. Maybe we can win three out of the next four. Just hoping.

I like to thank CBS for joining the game about six minutes already into it. It sure was enjoyable watching Notre Dame/Pittsburgh shoot free throws for 15 minutes. I can understand if networks are going to show back-to-back games why they don't allow 2 hours 15 minutes for each game. If the game would run shorter, I'm sure they could find some filler.

I usually don't harp too much about officiating because I think it evens out during the course of the game but I don't think that was true about this game.:shake: Several guys of ours got "bumped" going in for a layup and if Diebler did not get fouled on the three-point shot with about 90 seconds to go I just lost my eyesight.

The zone worked well the last 10 minutes of the game but the guys fail to recognize the open shooters the first 30 minutes. Guys were very slow coming to the corner shooters and we paid for it.

Both Clark Kellogg and Billy Packer (for whatever he is worth) constantly pointed out that Turner just stood on the perimeter instead of going for rebounds. I have no problems with Butler shooting threes when he is unguarded because he is our best outside shooter and most of those times those threes fall (approximately 40%).

That's all. We played hard but not for the full 40 minutes. Tough loss. Just go get Sampson's boys Tuesday night. Oh that's right, he's no longer there.

Go Buckeyes!:osu:

I don't understand what you're trying to say. You want Turner to take over the team but he is too timid because he is a freshman. If that is the case how is he going to take over the team? You want him to score more. I think that he gets the ball at least once in every possession and I think he knows what to do with the ball when he gets it. If he could score more, I certainly would wish he would do that and I am sure that he would like to do that. It would be also very helpful if he would go to the boards more on both offense and defense because of his "length".

Keep the faith. I think we are still on the NCAA tourmament "bubble". I bubble didn't bust today.

All we need is to put together a few "quality" wins.
@ Indiana
@ Minnesota
Purdue
Michigan State
