Game Thread Ohio State @ Purdue - 10/20/18, 7:30PM (ABC)

Actually I think Ed Warinner was a pretty good OL coach. He was a victim of "The Peter Principle", he just sucked as an OC.

The Peter Principle is a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Peter, which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to their "level of incompetence". In other words, an employee is promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another.

To translate to plebian terms: People get promoted based on what they are currently good at, not what they should be good at, at the next level.

Well, back at the hotel. Not going to bother to read the thread. Pretty sure sparcboxbuck Jr summarized it for me on the walk to the car.

He was pissed at me because I didn’t seem pissed off. I’m sure there’s plenty of pissed off to go around so imma skip past that shit.

What I know:
This is the first game that I’ve seen live and sat through a loss since I was in undergrad. I graduated in ‘92. I’ve been to a shit load of games, and many of them were not out of conference cup cakes.

I’ve watched virtually every game that I’ve not been to since ‘95.

There have been very few losses over that time, and the majority of them have been mind-fuck maddening.

But, for the overwhelming amount of good, you’ll have some bad.

This is (one of) my schools, my team, my coach, my guys and win or lose, that’s how it is.

I see them for what they are, and for my disappointment, I promise you that theirs is ten-fold.

As one who got kicked in the nuts a few times by school and life, I was made stronger for those experiences because I learned to pick myself off the mat and keep working. Many of those lessons I learned as a Buckeye or from a Buckeye.

This is an opportunity for these Buckeyes to pick themselves up off the mat and answer the bell.

I know that I’ll be there to root them on.

How firm thy friendship.

I'm retiring at 55 in 2020, so go on loving Syracuse for as long as you like.

I'm a poor kid who left college with no debt so play the "I'm smarter than you" card elsewhere. And go Orange...except during football season.
I’m smarter than you? Where the fuck do you get that? You incorrectly assume a lot of things about me. I can’t tell which is most incorrect between:

- you think I’m saying I’m smarter than anybody by saying I couldn’t afford OOS tuition at Ohio State
- you thinking I have any mod powers in any forum that means dick
- you thinking I abuse these imaginary powers

You hating me for liking a “local” team in one sport while a different team in a different sport says more about you than me liking those teams says about me.

Reminds me of when Titans promoted Mitch Munchak to HC...... Great O line coach but terrible HC

The beauty of a blow out loss like this one where everyone plays bad is that you aren't pissed off (and agonize about any what ifs) that we lost due to one bad play, bad call, tournover, missed tackle, and/or dropped pass, etc. You're just disappointed on the team's overall poor performance and that is a lot easier to take.

Not like I have to go that far back for inspiration.

There's no way in fucking hell that we are going to beat Nebraska, Sparty, Maryland, or scUM by anything resembling 48-3 or 52-14. We should win against Nebraska and Maryland, but right now I'm very leery about our chances against Sparty and scUM.

At least this loss is only Purdue? In the end, Ohio State football will continue to be Ohio State football.

Purdue, and all these other 4-8 mickey-mouse programs that ignore every other game on the schedule in order to beat OSU? They'll go back to being Purdues.

It is infinitely better than letting a program like Penn State or that team up north get momentum in this region.
