Game Thread Ohio State @ Nebraska - 09/28/19, 7:30PM (ABC)

Four Game Observations:
Red Zone efficiency has been excellent. This was not the case last year. Hard to beat if we keep it up.
Balanced Offense. Nearly 50/50 pass vs rush
Spreading the wealth. A lot of players touching the ball on Offense. I can think of 12 players off the top of my head
who have scored touchdowns.
Leading the nation in sacks. You can read that again. This is with us playing a pretty vanilla Defense.
Team tackling. A significant improvement in tackling thus far. Night and Day. This will be tested against Nebraska as Martinez, Wandale, Speilman and Washington are all fast and elusive.
Penalties. Another significant improvement. Probably what I'm most excited about. I hate penalties.
4 games no INT
Defense only allowing 8-9 points a game. Wasn't it 26 pts a game last year?
Winning the turnover margin.
No long runs against the D.
Only one really long pass against the D. Trick play.
Defensive Special Teams are playing off the charts. Another blocked kick would be sweet this week.

We definitely look better in every facet of the game, no doubt about that. We knew we had the talent, but the coaching and player motivation just seems infinitely better.

Corn will be our biggest test mostly because it's a road game... but honestly, I'm not sure how they would fare against Cincinnati. Feel like Nebraska hasn't been all that impressive. Buy it is a night game on the road against a team who fancies themself as a rival of ours, so definitely not chalking this one up as a blowout. If we play the way we have though, it will be.

Weather could also play a factor. Crazy stuff happens with wind and rain. Hopefully we can hold onto the ball. If we do we should win.

Not going to be too bad even if it does rain... if it does rain which school can go under center?? Hmmmm...

This will be the best collection of speed that we will see all year in UNs offense. That said I expect us to do a number up front on them on both sides of the ball.

FUCK I want to watch this game... If we get through this game IMO its a tough road for anyone else because other offenses just won't have enough to keep pace.

Can't we just bring our own cancer kids. We've got a whole cancer center right on campus. We've got buses. Walk the halls and pick a few. Bring 'em!

This isn't a dig at you. I would much rather the players go visit the kids and spend some time with them...unless the kid(s) wants to be on tv then bring the whole damn hospital out for their time in the spotlight.

Fuck Cancer!

Here’s the short version: if you live in Columbus or Dayton or a number of other cities across the country (full list below), you get your ABC broadcasts from stations owned by Sinclair Broadcasting.

Right now, Sinclair is in staredown with AT&T over carriage fees. That’s just the amount of money that AT&T pays Sinclair to include its channels in its cable or satellite packages.

They were supposed to reach an agreement on a new deal back in August, but agreed to a short-term extension until the end of September. That extension expires on Friday, September 27.

Once it expires, AT&T will pull all of the Sinclair stations off all of its platforms. If you get your TV through DIRECTV, AT&T TV, AT&T TV NOW, or U-verse TV, you will lose all of your Sinclair stations as soon as that happens.

If you live in Cleveland or Cincinnati or Toledo, or any market where the ABC station is owned by someone other than Sinclair, this won’t impact you.

But if you live in Columbus or Dayton and get your television through any of the providers listed above, you may not be able to watch the game.

Last year, when the D was a mess and playing almost 100% man this was a much more dangerous matchup.

Now, you have a dominant D line and an athletic back 7 that will play zone which, we all know from the JT Barrett years, is just about the worst defense to go against with the type of offense Nebraska has.

On the other side, I don't see how anyone thinks the Nebraska D is going to do much with the OSU offense

Special teams is also in favor of OSU

I get the hostile road environment and a night game but this isn't the voodoo weird night game place, that will be Northwestern. That said, any B1G opponent, on the road, at night is to be respected.

All in all I think I see the ways you can hurt this OSU team right now on both sides of the ball. I just don't think Nebraska is the right team to do it.

Styles make the fight and I don't think Nebraska's style is right to fight OSU this year.

The statistics to date don't mean jack squat. Bucks have not played anybody. That starts tomorrow night. I don't think we can extrapolate how we do in the red zone, how we do on third downs both on offense and defense, how well we defend wide runs, and so on. After the game we will know a lot more about how good this team really is.

This time of year you always have to watch for the weather change game too - so unless they get a lot of rain during the game, I don't think this is the one. UFM's teams always seemed to struggle at first when the weather changed a bit until they adjusted.

I don't think Nebraska matches up well with Ohio State this year. Last year's team was a disaster on defense AND couldn't run the ball consistently. That's not the case this year. I know the knock is "they haven't played anybody" - Ohio State's defense was giving up big plays to the nobodies last year, so at the very least the fundamentals are better even if the scheme is untested overall.
