Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

What exactly is a Challenger event and how does the team luck going forward:huh: I also would like to know if you have any info on the women's team.. Thanks.

Challengers are pro level events that have 2nd highest level of award money for winners.
The Columbus challenger had total winnings of $50,000.
Torp had to forfeit his share of the winnings to retain amateur status, :sniff:
In researching a question posed at college tennis blog,
"has a NCAA amateur athlete ever won an ATP challenger?"
Bobby Knight researched but could not find any prior to Torp's W at the challenger this past week.
With the win at the challenger and over top 100 opponent Becker, Torp's ranking in ATP moved from 642 to 371.
I like where Ty has moved this team, 4 ranked in top 100 of NCAA and some young talent waiting for time to shine.
Next year 2 blue chip class of 2017 phenoms Wolfe and McNally will enroll.

re. OSU women's team returns very experienced core, will look to defend their B1G team championship and try to make some noise in the NCAA's.
Some fall events should offer a picture of their development going forward.

They are very good. They also rec'd wild cards into the c bus challenger main draw. Had a dubs win over a pro team in first round. Wolfe and McNally are top 4, Best talent in USA under 18. My projection if Hugo stays they will be 2, 3 in 2017-18 osu team. Maybe even push him for 1.

Three Buckeye singles players competed in this morning's round of 64 main draw at the prestigious lTA All America Tournament in Tulsa.

All 3 Buckeyes battled for their wins to advance to the round of 32.
#1 seed Mikael Torpegaard won in straight sets, as did Hugo DiFeo and Herko Polannen.
Two doubles team (Polannen & Torp, Di Feo & Martin Joyce) will also seek to advance today to the round of 16, but both face very stiff competition.

Torp and Di Feo advance to the round of 16 at the ITA all American tournament in Tulsa.
Competition gets tougher as the rounds go deep. Especially Di Feo Showed solid determination today in 3 sets over a top 10 opponent.
Since Torp won over Illini Hitzlik, the two Bucks are the only reps of the B1G left in the main draw.
In the women's ITA all American Buckeyes #1 player Francesco DiLorenzo fought back from a 0-5 deficit to win the first set in the quarters, 7-5. Second set is starting now.

Wow! A Buckeye advances to the final of the ITA all American tourney in Tulsa but certainly not the one expected. In anotherr upset match Hugo DiFeo claimed a 7-6, 6-0 win in the semi final.
At the ITA women's tournament in California, Buckeye athlete Di Lorenzo is playing for the championship and took the first set.
