Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

Top 4 of Torp, DiFeo, Polannen, and Joyce will be solid.
Coach Tucker will anticipate,
Torp will be an automatic point each match,
Di Feo has shown marked improvement in his 2nd year of play.
Joyce will dominate at 4, and Polannen has all the talent in the world when he is consistent can handle anyone as he showed vs. u.k. Matsumara In the all American.
After the top 4 Tucker has recruited talent.
Next week the ITA regional will reveal who on the roster has separated themselves among Mendez, Reist, Seelig, Tubert, Kobelt, et al.

I would also not be surprised to hear of an international player enrolling for Jan. 2017.

Three Buckeyes won yesterday and advanced to the round of 16 at the national indoor tournament at Flushing Meadow NY.
On the men's side #1 seed in the tourney Mikael Torpegaard won in straight sets, and Hugo Di Feo advanced with a 2 set victory. Both play round of 16 @ 10:30 am.
In the women's draw, #1 seed Francesca DiLorenza won with ease and will play round of 16 today at 9 am.
Remarkable that a school has not just one #1 seed in the draw but in the case of Buckeye student athletes both draws top seeds are repped by the scarlet and gray.

final from the NIIC tournament, DiLorenzo dominant, 6-1, 6-1.
The ladies are beginning to add some hardware to the OSU varsity indoor Tennis Center trophy case!
Maybe more accurately DiLorenzo is starting to add a lot of hardware to her personal and OSU Tennis Center trophy case. I just wonder how long she will stay around after this season.

Bobby Knight writes the premiere blog for college tennis. His insight about what separated the athletes in yesterday's final is not total points won but in both matches the no ad points were crucial.
College tennis has been pressured to shorten match time. So Instead of a rule requiring player to win the game by two points (ad scoring) NCAA tennis made a controversial decision and changed the scoring to make the winner of the 40-40 deuce point the winner of the game.
Francesca won 7 of 7 no ad points yesterday! In the 6-1, 6-1 victory She was impressive wining 50 total points and losing only 36.
Torp actually won more total points 59-58 but lost 8 of 10 no ad points, which made the critical difference in a 6-4, 6-3 loss.

should also mention that redshirt freshman Kyle Selig is playing in the finals for the Big Ten Title this morning.
Very strong showing for the new Bucks absent the upper tier of those playing at the NIIC.

2. With both Francesca DiLorenza and Mikael Torpegard it's too bad there isn't a mixed doubles championship in college tennis...

As reported earlier, these are great moments for the Buckeye Men's and Women's tennis programs! Tucker is an incredible coach and the momentum as a recruiter is growing.
Class of 2017 signing day for NCAA Tennis teams happened this week and the Buckeyes picked up 2 blue chip seniors!!!! Acc. to Tennisrecruiting.net. http://www.tennisrecruiting.net/list.asp?id=1175
John McNally, #1 overall ranked class of 2017 athlete from Cincinnati, and
J J Wolf #3 ranked blue chipper also from the Queen City signed to play for the Scarlet and Gray!!!
If either or both are early enrollees for 2017, that would offer an incredible boost for the team.

The Women's tennis team also signed a major addition for the 2017 class.
Maria Tyrina a 16 year old (born Nov. 22, 1999) from Moscow, Russia, currently ranked #345!!!! in the ITF world rankings has signed a letter of intent with the Buckeyes. She is a 2016 graduate of the Christ Evert tennis academy. Her ITF profile here: http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/players/player/profile.aspx?playerid=100181487
If she qualifies would be eligible to be an early enrollee for the 2017 OSU Spring season.
