Ohio State just got one of its biggest commitments in a while from a draft eligible forward out of famed Shattuck-St. Mary's' program in Minnesota. Vincent de Mey, a Los Angeles native, committed to the Buckeyes improving hockey team on Friday afternoon according to SB Nation College Hockey.

SB Nation College Hockey lists him as a potential late round draft pick, something Ohio State hasn't had much of recently. After putting up 50 points in 54 games last season on the Boys Prep team, de Mey has broken out this year and currently has 44 points in only 31 games to lead the squad.

I was lucky enough to be in attendance at tonight's game against Michigan (ranked #8) at the Schott. After blowing a 3-0 lead, the Bucks (6 wins and 11 losses coming in) looked dead in the water, down a goal with a face off in the Michigan zone with only 8 seconds left. The Bucks scored to tie it and about blew the roof off the Schott. After a scoreless sudden death playoff, the shootout even went into four extra sudden death shots before the Bucks won. It was a blast and a hell of a win for a team that was a heavy underdog. The Schott was electric all night.

OHIO STATE HOCKEY TIES NO. 6 MICHIGAN, CLAIMS SHOOTOUT

“WE GAVE THEM A FEW GIFTS, BUT THAT’S MICHIGAN, THEY’RE GOING TO CAPITALIZE ON MISTAKES. I THINK OUR GUYS GAINED SOME MORE CONFIDENCE AND UNDERSTAND IF WE PLAY THE RIGHT WAY WE CAN COMPETE WITH ANYBODY.”– OSU COACH STEVE ROHLIK

In full from B1G. Martin is the sucker-puncher.

The Big Ten Conference office announced today a series of suspensions related to an altercation that occurred at the conclusion of the game between Michigan and Ohio State on Jan. 17.

Immediately following the conclusion of the game, four players each were issued a major penalty and a game disqualification by the on-ice officials. Game disqualification penalties are accompanied by an automatic one-game suspension to be served in the team’s next game against an NCAA member institution. Michigan’s Dexter Dancs and Cutler Martin and Ohio State’s Brendon Kearney each received a major penalty for fighting and a game disqualification, while Ohio State’s Dakota Joshua received a major penalty for facemasking and a game disqualification. As a result of these penalties, Joshua and Kearney are ineligible to play in Ohio State’s Jan. 22 contest against Penn State, while Dancs and Martin are ineligible to play in Michigan’s Jan. 28 game at Penn State.

Following a review of the incident by the conference, the Big Ten imposed additional suspensions and issued public reprimands of Michigan’s Dancs and Martin for violating the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy. Dancs has been suspended for one additional game and will be ineligible to play on Jan. 21 against the United States National Team Development Program Under-18 Team. Martin has been suspended for two additional games and will be ineligible to play on Jan. 21 against the United States National Team Development Program Under-18 Team and Jan. 30 against Penn State.

The Big Ten determined that the actions of Dancs and Martin were in violation of Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.01, which states in part that “The Big Ten Conference expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship. Such fundamental elements include integrity of competition, civility toward all, and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials.”
