Enjoy the game, fellas! That’s all I can say at this point because we aren’t going to see eye to eye if you’re expecting me to be nervous about Ohio State playing Indiana in a football game.

We’re about to swarm that stadium like we do every year, so I’m sure you’ll have plenty of us to talk football with after the game if you go and decide to stick around.

I’m feeling a 31-6 type of game. I also think the defense scores a TD this week. Wade or Okudah. As has already been stated, Indiana will not have a response for the DL. Add to that keeping the offense off balance by mixing the zone calls with Cover1/2 Man will not bode well for a young QB. As for the offense, even if they don’t look like a well oiled machine on Saturday, the OL will get plenty of push to create some running lanes.

Minimize the turnovers and penalties, and the game isn’t close.

To me this is a reminder of just how spoiled we are as OSU fans.

These guys have gone under .500 two years running, just landed their best recruiting class ever which was still only #38 and they are freaking on the internet and pumped. OSU lost 1 game last year and it was like the goddamned Bataan death march in here.

Good for them and good job by their new coach.

IU football fans are like American Indians, when was the last time you ever saw two of them in the same place? Never.

Now we've got wigwam full.

Like a few others here, I too was a student at tOSU in 87 and 88.

All of the sudden, it turned out that several of the people I worked with and even a few students at Ohio State were Hoosiers. They were all crowing about how they’d permanently and irreversibly overtaken Ohio State.

It was like the 5 years I lived in Arizona, Indians everywhere

If I were the coach at Indiana. I would just sit Penix. Get him healthy for the games we can actually win. While I think we will play you guys better than Cincinnati, you guys will still win by 2 or 3 touchdowns. Indiana isn’t beating this OSU team. I doubt anyone in the Big Ten beats you guys this season.

Now, before I get to it here, I need to be clear - the rankings I'm posting do not, by any means, tell the whole story. They are simply a way to compare players using the same formula. Which is to say, the 247 rankings which I am using are internally consistent. Likewise, a high 247 rating does not assure any level, good or bad, of success in the college game. Which is to say, a player rated .8000 might well develop into an All American, while a guy rated 1.000 might be a relative bust owing to, say, shitty work ethic and an overbearing mother (See, for example, Rashaan Gary). But, with that said, I defy you to demonstrate precisely where "IU matches up everywhere else"

Indiana has exactly 1 player rated ahead of his OSU counterpart - LG Harry Crider .8216 over Rutgers transfer Jonah Jackson .8135. In most cases, Ohio State's starter is vastly superior to his Indiana counterpart. Take for example, QB - whether it's Penix or Ramsey, neither is within a full point of Just Fields. That is hugely significant. I am not gonna go through this with a fine toothed comb, but I think you'll find that bears out across the board here.

I noticed that IU's top 4 roster players are:

Jack Tuttle QB .9321
Sampson James RB .9255
Beau Robbins DL .9070
Cameron Willimas LB .9005

Only Tuttle finds himself on the 3 deep. Sampson James was an Ohio State verbal, confirming the point that IU does have players who could play for Ohio State. My question is, and I realize these guys are all true Freshman, why aren't any of these guys in the three deep, at least?

Just a couple other quick notes to outline the talent disparity.

Indiana has 4 players who are 4 stars and rated .9005 or higher. By contrast, Ohio State has 60 4 stars or better, including 13 five stars (of which Indiana has zero). Ohio State has 40 guys rated better than Indiana's highest rated player, and 53 guys rated .9006 (.0001 above Cam Williams).

Indiana has 5 starters, at any position, who are rated as good or better than Ohio State's worst rated starter at any position (Devon Hamilton). Let that sink in. Ohio State's worst starter is better rated than every single player who starts for Indiana but for 5 of them. And you think Indiana matches up "almost everywhere." To the contrary, Indiana matches up literally nowhere. Not a single position. And certainly not a whole position group.

Now, to be absolutely clear, none of this means Ohio State can show up, throw it's hats on the field and walk out of there with a 50 point win. Indiana is well coached, plays to the whistle, and isn't going to shy away from the Buckeyes at all. I don't know that this Indiana squad is on par with the late 80s Indiana teams, and frankly, I can understand an IU fan's optimism in light of where the program under Tom Allen is now, vs. what IU has historically been... but... the idea that IU's talent and OSU's talent are essentially equal ("matches up almost everywhere) is patently untrue.

No offense man. But I’ve seen Wisconsin win the Big Ten with nothing but 3 star guys. Obviously Indiana is nowhere near those Wisconsin teams. But just having a lot of 4 or 5 star talent doesn’t mean anything. Purdue beat you guys badly last season with (1) 4 star guy on their roster. Regardless, I don’t see us winning. But star rankings are a terrible way to judge a team.

I made it very clear that I was not holding those numbers out as some sort of indication that the Buckeyes were sure to win and could not possibly be upset by Indiana. You made a statement about how Indiana "matches up evenly" and I demonstrated that that particular position of yours is not accurate.
