Game Thread Ohio State 6, Penn State 13 (Oct. 25)

It is disappointing realizing we just played and beat (other than a play) a championship caliber team, seeing how good we really were, but you know what? It's a learning process. Played our asses off tonight and probably should've walked out with a W, but Pryor learned, and guarantee he becomes more cautious in a good way.

Ok, I hate to repost but I have to know. Did anybody else see Homan slap the officials hand away late in the game. It was shortly after a pass interference call I think. Homan was standing next to a pile up and the officials were clearing the pile up out. One of the officials came up behind Homan and grabbed his arm and he turned around looked at him like " get your filthy [censored]ing hands off me," and then smacked his hand away.

I noticed that as well and was praying he wouldn't get slapped with a 15 yarder-thankfully he wasn't

Blame Corso.....he picked us to win today....

He has said that he will never pick against Ohio State in the presence of Herbstreit's kids; and Herbie's kids are always nearby when the show is across from the 'Shoe.

That hasn't stopped Ohio State from winning numerous times. Truth is; Penn State is a pretty good football team and the Buckeyes aren't as good as they should be this year. It really is that simple.

I apologize for the serious reply to the tongue-in-cheek post...

Back to watching shetuck mcneil a couple of trolls...

Sorry if I'm repeating, haven't read through the thread. Tough game, but it's hard to beat a defense that is that good with an offense that predictable.

I think Pryor grows from this one. I'd have liked to have seen Boekman for a series in the 2nd quarter to get TP a chance to see things from the sideline. I don't have any problems with how TP played, he made his mistakes trying to make plays. It's hard to watch him playing with the training wheels on, but the future looks very bright. I'd gripe about the line, but the play calling didn't help with that (when they are packing 8 in the box, you have to make them honest).

Let's win the next 3 and the bowl!

:oh:

Here's the deal. PSU did exactly what they needed to to win this game. No penalties, no turnovers. Flawless football in that regard. I for one did not see anything remotely like this game coming. I thought the O may be sluggish and they were, I thought the D would play lights out and they did. The one turnover that really mattered didn't go tOSU's way and that's sports, and essentially life. The sun rises tomorrow, and hey, we all get to see the Bucks play next Saturday. It's not like we waited 52 days for one game, and now have to wait another 8 months.

Go Bucks.

Agreed. We played tough, but we didn't play well enough in the rushing department to win this game. Tough luck, but gotta move on.

Well, it was a tough loss.

Did this team underachieve this year? Perhaps, maybe they were over hyped.

If that was the last loss of the year, then losing to #1 USC and #3 PSU cannot be looked at as a horrible year (especially if one of them wins the BCS)

I hope this game gets through to those fans that expect too much, are spoiled, or whatever. Wake up, we can lose games and it isn't the end of the world.

Next big goal for the year? BEAT MICHIG.. hack cough..that place

I'm trying to be positive and not get to upset..and its not working very well. :( I hate Penn St. and Joe Pa. I heard that there might be some change involving the starting QB position. Has any one else heard that?

No. Clark will be back next week...

I wouldn't doubt if Benaie bitchslapped every single one of his offensive linemen in the locker room. Beanie deserved much better than what he got tonight.

I don't know how you can expect them to open up gaping holes when they are outnumbered every stinking play.

We almost always ran the ball on first down, and they almost always brought a safety way up in the box on first down.

It's hard to block 7 on 8 or 7 on 9 and have anywhere to go.

We never made them get out of their 1st and 2nd down scheme.
Crap. we had third and very long all night. It's a wonder we scored at all with the playcalling on first and second down. We made it very easy on their D-Coordinator tonight.

The only major failing I noticed on the O-line tonight was at RT, and some at RG.
Granted - I only saw the game from their first FG forward. I was trying to listen in the car (bad reception) up until then. But I still didn't hear us doing much besides running Beanie into an 8 or 9 man front even then.

I was suprised too....since they called everything else against tOSU tonight. The next play the ref was out there chuckling it up with the PSU QB. I am not saying that OSU lost because of the officials, but officiating was horrible tonight........now that I think about it, I wish Homan would have grabbed his arm, ripped it off and then beat him with it.

Agree to disagree on meltdown, because I guess you would define those other games as nuclear. tOSU was in position to win this game, but even when the fumble happened there was 9+ minutes left, to say that this game was wrapped up then is absurd.

Then the offensive play calling shouldn't have been of the nature of a wrapped up game. Why try and milk the clock with 9 minutes left. Show the defense something. Try to put the game away. Give the team a chance to win. The offense didn't do that tonight.

The D played lights out. Holding this team to 13 points is something to be very proud of. Herbstriet couldn't believe it.

Be honest. If I had told you that Ohio State would hold PSU to 13 tonight would you have said "Bucks could still lose the game." Fucking Syracuse scored 13 on them.
