aw man. we're going to storm the field for beating Iowa? that's not going to look good.

The only reason I could think that hey would storm the field would be for clinching the Rose Bowl, not for beating Iowa.

It's still not going to look good. Not that I care, but it is what it is.

Yea, storming the field is for BCS busters and BCS hopefuls. We, being an elite team, should never have to settle for running onto the field. Keep it classy Buckeye Nation.

Senior Day. Clinching the Big Ten title for the 5th straight year. Senior Day. Clinching out first Rose Bowl under Tressel. Did I mention Senior Day?

Fans going onto the field to celebrate these things with their team in no way displays a lack of class. If I were there I might take to the field after the game myself.

I think that given the adversity the team has faced this season, if we win I have no problem with students getting out on the field. 5 straight Big Ten titles and a Rose Bowl berth are big deals. Yeah I get it, we are Ohio State we are used to this, blah blah. I think this "we are better than that" mentality makes some fans come across as snobby. Instead of celebrating big accomplishments some merely say "well, we are Ohio St, we should go to the Rose Bowl". Stop and think about it and live in the moment. We have not been to the Rose Bowl in over a decade.

If we beat Iowa on Saturday and clinch a Big Ten title I will be disappointed if everyone just heads for the exits without a little extra celebrating. If you are going on Sat. and plan on doing that, do me a favor and sell your ticket to someone who might really appreciate what they are witnessing.

Random thoughts regarding Iowa:

I was really impressed by the Iowa fans during the 2006 game. They never gave up on their team even when the final result was certain.

I was a sideline photog during the 70 season. Iowa came in knowing they were about to get pounded by one of the best teams Woody had. When the two teams came onto the field to stretch and warm up the Buckeyes began to gobble like turkeys. You could see the Hawkeye necks turn red, but they kept their mouths shut.

Since this game covers the Veteran?s Day weekend we can remember that Don Scott of Ohio State (for whom the OSU airport is named) and Nile Kinnick, for whom the Iowa Stadium is named, died in airplane crashes while in training during World War II.

During one of the Big 10 pre-season press conferences Woody and Forest Evaschevski, then the Iowa coach, got into a shouting match that ended with the two of them chasing each other around the table while the stunned reporters looked on.

The 1957 game at Iowa City was for all the marbles, Big 10, Rose Bowl, National Championship. Trailing 13 to 10, time running out, Ohio State?s Bob White galloped for 50 some yards to give the Bucks the lead and the win. I listened to the game on radio (Marvelous Marv Homan) and then saw highlights a week later at a movie theatre on a Universal International Newsreel.

Iowa took a 5-3 record into the final game of the 1953 season against a Notre Dame team that was expected to post an easy victory.

The game ended in a 14-14 tie, and Notre Dame had to score in the late stages of the game to secure the deadlock. Out of time outs, the Irish got the clock stopped when players crumpled to the ground after plays, feigning injuries. (This is the game that led to the rule changes in clock management with regard to injuries)

Let's just wait until we win, before we storm the field, OK?
I already stormed the field at lunch today...I like to be pro-active...wasn't as exciting as I thought it would storming the field as a one man show. The only thing that stopped the celebration at the 50 yard line was a man crying in the corner of the stadium..thought is was RR but ended up just being some dude. WHAT A LOSER!!!! :tongue2:

Ok...so the line is now 17. Just a thought. With Iowa being ranked #10 in the BCS, and Ohio State #11...this MUST be the largest amount of points that a team ranked in the Top 10 in the BCS has been an underdog by to a team that is NOT ranked in the Top 10 in the BCS. 17 points is a huge spread.

Still...31-14 sounds about right.

Even though Stanzi may be out 17 seems a little generous.....I think we cover!
