With Stanzi Iowa was the most overrated team in the country. At home we just need to show up to play and we can handle them straight up just fine.

Hmmm, you don't think Iowa with Stanzi and a perfect 8 and oh deserved to be ranked higher than, oh say, Boise, TCU, Cincinnati who were also 8 and oh?

Iowa had to play a Big 12 team and 5 Big 10 teams to get there. What have the other three done that's comparable?

It doesn't get dark at 6, it gets dark at about 5:30. Feels like 5 if it's overcast...

I agree that this week the backup gets the reps and all the love in practice. Kirk Ferentz, I keep hearing he is the World's Greatest Coach, and so this week I guess he will be pulling out all the stops.

I think Iowa is upset at their loss... ticked off... inspired if anyone within the Buckeye Nation dares to talk about scUM this week ("they were overlooking us!!")...

so that and the foot-tall Ditka gets you about 13 points.
OSU 31, Iowa 13.

I'll be in columbus this weekend but not at the game, so I'll have to go down to High St. for old time's sake if the Buckeyes win. :)

Before last week, I would have rated them Iowa, Cincy (win over Oregon State and plays in Big East), TCU, Boise (Big East > Mountain West > WAC). Iowa beat Iowa State, yes, but Iowa State is not a great football team. Cincy beat Ore St, which could very well win the Pac 10. Same with Boise's win over Oregon, but their Conference is a joke. TCU is the wild card, I would say the win over BYU is more impressive than their OOC.

Iowa also beat Arizona, who just might win the Pac 10 as well.

People are buzzin on campus. I get at least 3 texts a day from buddies asking where we're pregaming for this game...from people that don't even know what the Rose Bowl is. People are just stoked for this game and the chance to storm the field and get shitty before and after. Game time is approaching and roses will be flying. Lets get it!:oh:

Hasn't Jim Tressel always broken the regular season down into three "seasons"?:

  1. Non-conference games
  2. Big Ten games
  3. M*ch*g*n Week
With that approach in mind I think it's fine for the team to focus on winning a Rose Bowl berth THIS WEEK to close out the Big Ten season, and then go out and focus on being champions of the M*ch*g*n Week season the next week.

Kirk Ferentz and Dick Wad are sitting in bar, pounding beers and talking football. They look up and see Jim Tressel walk in with a camera in his hand. He orders up a beer and then aims the camera at the two coaches.

"What's he trying to do?" asks Wad.

"Focus." answers Captain Kirk.

"Both of us?" asks Wad.

I'll give you Cinci because they not only beat Oregon State, they beat them in Corvalis... but all three are riding on one aspect of looking at a team... undefeated.
