Official NCAA 2007 Info Thread (Merged)

Eddie George came in and skipped the whole line. He still looks like he could play.

I know I said that not editing equipment on 360 and not editing classes on current gen would be an equal problem, but the 360 is in better shape. Every player in last year as a freshman has been given sophomore status this year. The five medical redshirts from last year (Lyons, Nicol, Gholston, Rehring, Freeman) are all in as juniors. It's a pretty big foulup which really screws with how many young guys you can get on the team.

anybody know if you can edit equipment in dynasty mode..i.e.
numbers of incoming players and soforth..i hate when the computer assigns 45, 27, 47, 22 etc b/c those are retired and are not used by me under any circumstances
I haven't recruited at the end of the year, but numbers, names, skin color, height, weight and faces should still be editable, since they are on the default rosters. Regular equipment editing, though, is still not available what from what I've seen on other sites.

Btw, does anyone know of an good way to clean/repair disks? My game locked up Sunday apparently because my 360 overheated. I went to play the game last night, and I can do everything but play a game. I can simulate games/seasons, load and save dynasty and roster files, but whenever I go to actually play a game, I now get a dirty disk error. I think my disk may have some burn-in or markings from the laser when it stopped working the other day. I've tried cleaning the disk with a very soft cloth, but I continue to get errors. I can seem some markings on the disk that don't wipe off when I use my cloth. Any help would be appreciated.

My 2006 version did that all the time and I could never figure it out. I even returned the game and that didn't fix the problem. I always assumed it was something with my system.

Without going back and reading this entire thread, can someone tell me if I can download the rosters anywhere and use the transfer kit to transfer them to my X-box 360? Or, can you only transfer stuff from your 360 to your pc with those transfer kits???

I have a question about the new game.

Im going to have to get the game for XBOX, seeing as how im too poor to get a 360 at the moment. Is recruiting the same as it was last year? I know the 360 has a 3-D recruiting map, but for the XBOX version is recruiting the same as last year?

I bought it early at a store that is several hours away, but some guys on another site suggested to exchange it at Walmart, so I am going to try that during my lunch break.

Yes. Here's the first set available so far. I won't get to try them until tonight. The transfer kit works like the Action Replay, in that you install software on a pc, and then plug in the device that will allow you to transfer the files between your PC and memory card. You will also need to buy a memory card, and everyone says to download the software for the device and to not install the stuff that comes in the box.

I have no information regarding the regular XBox

I got the game (for 360) and played it for a couple hours this morning. The new gameplay is kind of hard to adapt to coming from the 06 XBox version, I was having all kinds of trouble adjusting to the defense. The new controls on offense are going to take some time, too. Ohio State's offense does kick ass though, it's almost impossible to stop.

So I have to purchase a transfer kit AND a memory card???

O.K. so I picked up the game this morning and so far have only had time to check out the features. First, I'm a little disappointed that there isn't a create a school feature. I don't think that it would have been that much trouble to put that in. Also, there are no D-1AA teams to import into dynasty which I also thought was dumb. One more thing... I couldn't figure out how to change the coach's name in Dynasty mode. Help anyone? Thanks in advance.

Once you start a dynasty, there is a coach menu ("positions" I think) and you can edit the coach's names there.

1. about games freezing on xbox 360: this happened to me on tiger woods and fight night 3..brand new games out of the package would just freeze for no reason. I called XBox and they said it was a hardware problem. I had to exchange my 360 entirely from target...and it was only 2 days old.

2. the game dislikes: OSU looks like they have white facemasks..that bothers me...kickers seem to be clunky in their motion...and you can't edit in formations..just depth charts..and my biggest gripe is not being able to edit equipment..body size...muscles..etc..anybody know if this is possible on 360?...in season recruiting is going to be difficult

3. the likes..graphics are great...defensively you can get some really big hits and the players and fast..played the 1st game on my dynasty and it was pretty good..i just switched from PS2 so i am still getting the 360 knack down...overall it is a fun game..the equipment thing bugs me though

EA Top 25 and player rankingsposted: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 | Feedback | Print Entry

Big day in the sports world.
EA Sports NCAA Football 2007 is out today. Last year's game was phenomenal, and I suspect this version will be even better. The game, as with most video games, may not do wonders for relationships, but I figure there are worse things guys can be doing with their time.

I still remember the look on my girlfriend's face when she came home from work and I was so giddy to show her just how awesome -- awesome!!! -- the 7-on-7 function was on 2006. (Her expression was similar to the one my mom had about 20 years ago when, in the spirit of us having a new open relationship, I matter-of-factly told her that my friends and I smoke pot and have been draining the family's stash of vodka for quite some time.)

Anyhow, I was sent a list of EA's Top 25 for 2006 yesterday and decided to conduct a little experiment down here at the Mountain West Conference gathering. EA ranks OSU No. 1, followed by Texas, Notre Dame, USC and LSU. Here is the rest of their list:

6. Florida
7. Auburn
8. Oklahoma
9. West Virginia
10. Louisville
11. Miami
12. Florida State
13. Penn State
14. Michigan
15. Cal
16. Georgia
17. Iowa
18. Tennessee
19. Arizona State
20. Nebraska
21. Virginia Tech
22. Texas Tech
23. Clemson
24. Alabama
25. Georgia Tech

The main differences from my preseason rankings is EA has West Va., Michigan and Auburn much lower and Florida, Texas and USC a bit higher. As for that experiment, I had their rankings in my blackberry and was talking to TCU star DE Tommy Blake about his love for the 2006 game. Blake said as soon as he gets out of this event (it officially ends today), he is going right over to the nearest store to buy the new one. Blake and I began chatting about his thoughts on the preseason rankings.

Me: Do you care about the EA rankings?

Blake: Nope, no reason to.

Me: Well, I have them just in case you want to see …

Blake: (breaking into a big grin): Well, OK.

(For the next 30 seconds he kept on scrolling up and back on that little blackberry wheel, perusing the rankings with a bemused look on his face.)

Blake: Um …

Me: Yes?

Blake: We're not anywhere in here, are we?

Me: No. 'Fraid not.

Blake: Um, OK. Good. Good! We like it like that. That is why we play the games on Saturday. And Friday night. And Thursdays, right?

EA's player rankings are also out and these are also very interesting to sort through. Brady Quinn rates as the No. 1 QB with a grade of 97. Troy Smith and Drew Stanton are tied for second at 95. I was a bit surprised to see Chris Leak coming in at No. 4 (93 overall), ahead albeit by the slightest of margins over Drew Tate and Brian Brohm.

Adrian Peterson led the tailbacks at 98 overall. Another surprise was seeing that Louisville's Michael Bush and NIU's Garrett Wolfe were tied with Marshawn Lynch for second at 94. Glancing at some of the other rankings, I did scratch my head that Miami's Tyrone Moss had a grade of 90 when it came to speed. I think he's a tough runner with a really good feet and a surprising, burst but I wasn't expecting him to be credited with that kind of speed even before his knee injury.

Of course, the rankings, like all the preseason stuff, is fun to sift through and nitpick knowing that the real thing is only weeks away now.
