Official NCAA 2007 Info Thread (Merged)

agree about the facemasks..the osu helmet looks like one i created in madden 05 for a franchise..looks odd...but the game is growing on me...really disappointed in the 360 version the first few times but after playing the first 5 games of my dynasty..i really am starting to like it

Other than that I don't really see a significant difference in the graphics. I'd even go as far as to say it's almost exactly the same game graphically.

Cant say I agree with that at all. No contest graphically between the 360 version and the others, especially high def.

With that said, I am ready to get rid of my 360 and pick up a PS2. Too many things missing from the 360.

for the 360 version

Pros-Graphics obviously..on a high def TV this game is UNREAL looking. Every game is a visual treat.

Cons-No create a school...i loved creating a team, with me and my friends as like 80 ovr guys and working us up to national prominence. No equipment edit...even on CAP sucks....

However I love the game. The graphics are enough for me to love this game. Lawrence Wilson and Beanie are freaks in this game for me. Through three games wilson has like 8 or 9 sacks leading the country. Through the same time Beanie has 299 yards, and Pittman 300. However Beanie is producing better, (including 254 yards on 19 carries and 3tds against NIU in only the second half). So Pittman will be the #2 guy for a while. Beanie is impossible to tackle.

I played this game while I was at Best Buy today since I haven't really played a non PC game since college.

Played the PS2 version

Same damn game as it was in 98-99. Just looks a little better.
I smeared some guy who was already playing before I got there. Had to play with TSUN against the Bucks. It was 12-3 when I got there and 31-12 when the guy bugged out.

I forgot how good I am at video games. When NCAA 2027 comes out, my kids will be through college and I'm going to fuck me up some youngsters.

I'm very disappointed with the actual during-gameplay graphics to be honest. When they are up-close and on instant replays and going around the stadium, it looks great. But during actual gameplay, I feel like I'm playing Sega Genesis of PS1. The player motion isn't very smooth at all like they were on regular XBOX. I had some friends over and they were actually laughing when I ran the ball with Troy Smith because it looked so fake. We came to the conclusion that getting the 360 and '07 is a ripoff if it doesn't get better. My '06 game on XBOX far exceeds the during-gameplay graphics of 360. Now I don't have HD so I'll have to try it at my friends but to be honest, all in all I'm pretty disappointed with the game.

I'm kind of surprised by that. I played the game on my mom's 32 inch, 4:3, regular definition TV last weekend and my brothers and I agreed that the graphics were very impressive even with being non-HDTV.

In other news, for anyone looking for another set of 360 rosters, they should be available by tomorrow morning. They'll be from Fairdale Kings site, and unlike DTs (from my previous link) there will not be anything edited other than the names. DT's version had some created players and players with edited ratings. Apparently the changes caused FSU's KR to be a DT. This also means that players like Haw and Cotton will be on the rosters, but they can be changed to any other player.

Last year, DT stole Fairdale's rosters and passed them off as his own. Fairdale caught him by intentionally misspelling a few players names on random rosters. DT's were identical.

I'm aware of the whole DT saga going back of the past several years to the PS2 incident with BL over at maddenmania and OS.

This year though, DT got his rosters out much earlier, but did too much player editing for most people. FK will only be changing the names to start with (which is what I want) and will then be making updated rosters with edits and created players later.

My evaluation of the game:

1. The "Campus Legend" mode is a little bit neat. A little better than the "Race for the Heisman" mode from the last game, but still lightyears away from being as good as "Dynasty" mode. Trying to split time between studying, partying, and practicing is the main obstacle. If you study too much, you're wasting time. But if you don't study enough, your grades slip. I guess you can be inelligible if your grades are too low. I've not seen that, yet.

2. Practicing in "Campus Legend" can get pretty frustrating. You have practice every day, and you practice whatever formation you want to, against whatever defense you want. But then they "randomly" pick your plays. But I don't think it's so random. I figured I'd get some easy points by picking a shotgun formation against the defense's goal line formation. But then they "randomly" picked running plays 60% of the time (3 of them were quarterback draws). You get points for gaining yards, and lose points for losing yards. If you get 75 points in 10 plays, you get a +1 ratings boost in games when you use that formation. I've gotten 150+ points a couple of times, but haven't gotten a +2 ratings boost. Maybe you need 175, or something. Sometimes, I've got like 65 points, with one play to go, and the stupid game will make me try a quarterback draw on the last play. Suck!

3. On to the game: I absolutely HATE the new special teams. First, when you're defending against a punt or kick, it says "press triangle for 3rd person view." Of course, it MEANS "1st person view," but that's not what it says. 1st person view is a view where you can only see a tiny fraction of the field that you could see before, and your player takes up about 25% of that view. So when you're returning a punt or kick, there could be a defender right in front of you, and you'll run right into him. Or if he's 2 yards off to your right or left, you can't see him because he's off the screen. And since the camera angle is shifted down, you have no depth perception. There should be an option to turn that off.

4. Kicking: I don't like the way the new kicking game works, either. I think I just need to get used to it.

5. Slow-motion zoom-ins: Ugh. Luckily, you can turn this off. There were a couple of times I'd be throwing to a receiver who is deep, down the middle. The linebacker would jump up to try to tip it. It would zoom in and slow down to watch him try to tip it. He'd miss. While it's zooming back out, my receiver catches it, and I can't see him because he's off the screen. By the time the screen catches up to him, he's getting knocked out of his shoes by the safety.

6. Um. I think that's all I have, right now.

The kicking game changes were put in place to make it harder to consistently get 20+ yards per punt return. I don't like it personally, but once I get online, I think that it will help people play more straight. It is third person BTW. If it were first person, it would be like a first person shooter, and you wouldn't be able to see the guy that you're controlling at all. Third person means you are controlling him from outside his body, but still looking from his vantage point.

You're right. Slow motion zoom-ins were cool the first, and only the first time it happened. They are best left turned off. Especially since they're using them on non-impact players too, and zoom-in way too frequently.

So, is anybody planning on putting a little something together for PS2 online play?
