Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

Quinn is a average qb at best that is why he fell to 22nd in the draft. The owners and coaches of the nfl teams seem to see what I see, that Quinn is an average qb.

Quinn fell because teams that have established QB's didn't see the need to draft a QB. Most general managers tend to see that drafting a player at a position that your team doesn't need is a waste of a draft pick. So I guess that owners, coaches, and general managers don't see exactly what you see.

Ok, be honest now, if Quinn is average, what does that make Henne?

Why all the hate on Gary Hogeboom ?

Hubbard, didn't your owner say during the draft that Russell was the best qb then Brady. Henne is better than Quinn. If the coaches on our team let Henne actually play instead of handing the ball off every play,Henne would have the chance to prove himself. At least in the big games he played in he actually stepped up. Stats don't lie!

Well, I've had time to think about it, so here it is for me.

I fucking loved today. I didn't want Quinn with the third pick. I wanted Thomas, and I wanted him bad. Just getting him made the day a good day, but it didn't change the fact that we still needed a quarterback, a cornerback, and defensive line help.

And then Savage said, "The hell with it," grabbed his sac, and pulled off the trade. I know that some feel we paid to steep a price. Yes, the price was indeed high, but I think it was worth it. I'm not expecting this team to make the playoffs next year, but I do expect them to actually start giving a shit. It looks like they now are. An offense with Quinn, Thomas, Winslow, Edwards, Steinbach, Lewis, and (please?) Bentley someday is a damn good offense. Personally, I'm sick and tired of looking forward to the next draft before the current one is even over.

During the second round, a buddy of mine who is a Dallas fan called me. We were discussing who the Cowboys were going to take when the "Trade" sign started flashing. When I saw it was the Browns, I immediately said, "It looks like Savage wants a corner." Here's the thing with that. In 2006, we basically played without our top three corners for the year. We couldn't cover anybody. Wright will probably start the season in the rotation, and I wouldn't be surprised if he cracks the starting lineup by the end of the year, whether it's due to injury or if he earns it. Make no mistake, our corners were horrible. Hell, Brodney Pool started there against Carolina.

So I sit back and think, "Damn. We finally said, 'Fuck it.' We made a statement." Will it pan out? I think so. Then again, all three could end up being busts, but I doubt it.

I'm happy as hell with the first day of the draft, and it's been a long time since I could say that about the Browns.

Living in Cincy, I don't get to catch every Browns game, but with my limited viewing I have been less than sold on Frye. Savage and Romeo know they have one year to show they deserve to keep their jobs. They went for broke with this draft. These picks must produce or they are out. I like they had the balls to put it all on the line. If they hit, they drafted 2 and potentially 3 Pro Bowl caliber players and if they bust... they are set back even further.

I truly think Quinn can make a difference on this team. With a stronger line and running game, the pressure will not be as great. Charlie made some serious mental errors last year and I recall at least 2 games that those mistakes made the difference. He did OK with a very vanilla offense, but whenever they tried to expand things and open it up, he faltered. At the very least, they can expand the playbook with Quinn.

Looking at the draft value charts, if the Browns pick at #10 next year, they made an even trade (assuming #22 pick value for Quinn). Of course, the value of the deal will depend on Quinn. If he proves to be top 10 value, they got a great deal.

The Browns should still have cap space and the ability to make a trade or pick up some decent players if they get cut. I like their chances to be a .500 team next year.

The stats don't lie. What big game has Quinn won? Almost every big game we play Lloyd doesn't put are players into a position to win the game.

Did you really just say "are" players instead of "our" players. I don't usualy get too offended by illiteracy, but that was pathetic. Really pathetic.

I see folks get confused quite often with "there, their, and they're." The easiest most sickening is "supposebly." YOU take the cake, my scUM friend. You like stats? Go look up Gene Swick and Bruce Grabowski from Toledo. Your (not you're) sorry ass probably would have loved them as a #1 pick because stats don't lie, right?

Did Henne declare for the draft? I haven't really given a damn to check, I thought he was staying another year. In that case, who cares? The Browns wanted an offensive lineman and a quarterback, if Henne didn't declare, its his fault he didn't get a shot at that spot. I'd still take Drew Stanton over Henne though, when JLS wasn't making bonehead moves and Stanton was controlling the game, his athleticism carried the offense well.
Its good to see Brady wound up with the Browns, which is where he wanted to go to begin with. He may not be getting as big a payday, but if hes able to do well the bank will come. If not, then he'll be stuck with what hes got. Its good to see the Browns made the right move and picked the O-lineman first though, that will help the running game and keep DBs honest on the pass.

If we draft Quinn, I'll like him regardless. In pro sports, I cheer the colors, not the college where he played. Quinn won't win us many more games this year, but then again, no one will. I'd rather have Thomas or Peterson, but Quinn's still an upgrade over Frye. And the last I checked, quarterback is kind of an important position.

glad to see your on the quinn side:)

One important thing to consider is that even though we beat you guys year in and year out you do recruit talent and have talented players. I don't think the same can be said for ND at least not until recently and hell they only have talent on one side of the ball let alone Quinn's O-line stunk. Just some things that I think should be considered if we are comparing Henne and Quinn.

I am sorry I put are instead of our, it's late and i'm tired. I hate people that try to act intelligent on a message board. I wish the Browns good luck I really do I just feel bad that your going to have to deal with another Tim Couch.
