Notre Dame (football only discussion)

Someone at work just mentioned that Notre Dame does not redshirt players. Is this true? If it is true why would they not redshirt players?
That used to be true but is so no longer.

One of the (few) practical and rational changes that coincided with the weighty one's tenure in South Bend.

Elitist snobbery: It shouldn't take a kid five-years to get a four-year degree. This used to be the case, but the school has recently done a 180 on this. They redshirt players like everybody else now.

Yeah my hate for ND runs deep just like it does for State and Minnesota. HOWEVER, ask any Michigan fan which game means the most to him or her. I'm sure you all know the answer. USC probably means more to ND fans.

Michigan and ND used to have some crazy battles several years ago. Times have changed though.

USC is the big one, but you guys are probably a close #2 on our list as far as rivalries go. I believe Michigan students brought the game of football to Notre Dame back in 1877. There were a number of years that the two didn't play, but there was bad blood even back then.

I'm not sure who is #3 on the list. Boston College is definitly there, but Michigan State has been a long time rival.

I wouldn't say the games were any crazier several years ago than they are today, although we've been blown out a couple times in recent years. Once was Clausen's freshman year, and another game against Brady I think.

Kelly is expected to see out the season with his Bowl Championship Seties-bound team, and then report for duty at South Bend.

How does that work exactly?

Does he stay in touch with Matt James on behalf of the Bearcats?

If this becomes official look for Cincy to say thanks, but no thanks.

I love it...

Brian Kelly will be the next head football coach at the University of Notre Dame,

and then:

says the Cincinnati coach is the preferred choice for the job, and that he is expected to eventually sign a deal.

I see... Kelly WILL be the next coach because ND has made him the 'preferred' choice......

Well.. preferred choice after their first preferred choice, Urban Meyer, said "fuck off"
...but once Florida coach Urban Meyer ruled himself out...

I guess he wasn't expected to eventually sign a deal... :roll2:

But, whatever... it's time to get your hopes up again Domers:

Kelly is known as an offensive genius like Weis, but unlike him, he also has extensive defensive experience.

He's all the good things of Weis, but none of the bad!!!

Unless he doesn't do as expected and sign a contract. then he probably sucks... but we'll let the immediate future decided that.

Huh...i didn't realize the UC had beat Pitt already and had an automatic bid to the BCSs sewn up.

Apparently they're assuming they'll get a bid even if they have a loss and don't win the Big East? I would say that's a bad assumption.
