I liked it too, but by "now a days" do you mean the last 20 years, with the exception of Holtz's good year or two?

Powlus, oops Clausen for Heisman

What the hell? You are so cut off from any orange creme margaritas from here on out, how dare you dis touchdown jesus like that.

Over the next three years one thing will become clear, it will no longer be the "Heisman trophy" it will be the "Pickle award" mark my words!

Yeah, they have a pretty favorable schedule next year and they did get a little bit of "togetherness" at the end of this year, so 6-6, maybe 7-5 next year, Charlie will look like he's "turned that program around."

I'm hurt. Even I don't root for ND against OSU

Wasn't it on here where someone said even if ND plays North Korea, you don't root for ND?
Kim Jong Il by 40.

But then, the next week, I hope that Jong Il is coming in on the punter and whiffs and then gets the punters full force into the nads. It would be great to see those two things get punted through him and out his puny mouth.

Sadly, one of the hottest points of contention on this board during the slow summer months is whether OSU fans should root for ND or UM during the annual game between the two.

I and many others have always thought that it is clearly in the conference's better interests to have TSUN win that game every year. I also agree with many others that, while TSUN and OSU are the biggest rivalry in sports, ND is the easiest team to hate in the universe.

While I have mostly (until now) stayed out of the discussion; I have always quietly respected cincibuck for all of the preaching that he does on the subject. Sadly, his preaching is almost always to deaf ears; but it needs to be said.

There is only one true outcome worth rooting for in this game.

Well, this is interesting. I've loved how the domer boards have been rife with the "look how relevant we still are in a losing season" smack. Of course; it's kind of like watching the class bully getting his ass kicked by the kid he picked on all last year. Of course everybody's going to talk about it for weeks afterwards. What the bully doesn't understand is that discussion is just the dying embers of his relevance. By the time he slinks off to tv repair school, DeVry or Bowling Green, no one will even remember his name. But I digress...from Business Week's website.

NBC: Blindsided by Notre Dame

Already, NBC has had to adjust its advertising pricing strategy. This fall the ratings on Irish games fell 40% from last year and are now half of their 2005 levels. NBC has had to give loads of free ads (known as make-goods) to companies like Allstate (ALL) and Procter & Gamble to justify the $55,000-to-$80,000 rates for a 30-second ad it negotiated before the season started. Media buyers will demand better rates for the 2008-09 season.
