Come now Cincibuck, I am well aware that not all Catholics like the Irish, and I agree that sweeping generalities as well as stereotypes are usually bad. The simple fact is that I have never liked ND since I was little (as an 8 or 9 year old wearing my #45 (not Big Kat) jersey). My sister in law cannot explain why she likes ND so that is simply the excuse that I use on her as to my dislike of them. You must admit that the national love affair of the Irish has at least some relationship with the Catholic connection.

You mean that I'm not the only exception to the rule that everyone likes the Cowboys ?

Just yankin' your chain Grizz... I hate the Cowboys and, yeah, there is a lot of love for the Irish amongst Catholics... but there's also a lot of resentment (Univ. of Dayton, Xavier, BC) of ND's athletic name recognition. There is also a schism over education and academic power/reputation...BC, Georgetown, Jesuit schools versus ND... and a significant rift between many Catholic colleges and the American Bishops, who want more say re; academic freedom.

Cincibuck, my ignorance of the Catholic and Jesuit aspects of some of these Universities is almost as bad as my loathing for some of them (care to guess which one)

As to Weis being fat, as someone who the government says is obese (6'4" 260lbs) I think that CW is somewhat beyond fat, but we'll just have to agree to disagree:biggrin:

According to Forbes ND is #1.
South Bend Tribune: Backfield options growing

YEAH YEAH ND SUCKS I KNOW.....

The Sagarin computer rates the Irish 99th this week among the 242 combined teams in what used to be Division I-A and I-AA, just below Villanova and just ahead of Florida Atlantic. Villanova, in fact, is one of 14 Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) teams rated ahead of the Irish.

Nice sig Chief, I wonder if Weis realizes that the decisions he makes can affect his players psyche. By not attempting that field goal, and following that with his reasoning about why they went for it on fourth and a bunch, how must that kicker feel ? Couple that with his question of whether his players have a problem learning (while touting himself as a great teacher) and you have the makings of a lost (in more ways than one) team.

Everyone in the world knows that Charlie is not a good College coach.
That being said keep in mind that he is smart enough to become one and that ND will give him 2 or 3 years to see if he can. Will you sing his praises then?
