Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

In all of the excitement yesterday, I must admit that I selfishly forgot to congratulate Notre Dame on their epic victory over Duke, in a game that was never really in doubt in the fourth quarter.

What does it take to get into a BCS bowl anymore? Why all this terrible prejudice against Notre Dame and its exemplary humanitarian coach?

When a team with such a storied tradition, one that almost beat USC just a few years ago, can find no place in a BCS bowl, when we become so selfish as to forget to congratulate it during a season when it had a perfect record against the Big Ten, well, personally, I think that the world is just a poorer place.

I'd like to see more comments to cheer up Notre Dame fans in this thread, so word will get out that we get it.

I agree Steve... there is little question that this is Notre Dame's greatest victory over Duke since 1966. Clausen was phenomenal, extending his career mark for starts, yards, completions and attempts. If this doesn't put him at the top of the Heisman conversation, I don't understand.

The fact that Notre Dame isn't in a BCS bowl just goes to show the flaws in the BCS system. Notre Dame is an independent, in a perfect world they would always have a spot in a playoff, as well as a first round bye as to not have to play the bottom feeders of college football.

I mean really, this is Notre-freakin'-Dame we're talking about, not Alabama or Nebraska, Notre Dame! They played like a champion today, and the offensive schemes showed, I think everyone is eating a little humble-pie this morning.

You're right.

He certainly put Graham Harrell to shame.

The sad thing is I was flipping channels and went past NBC as the game ended. I actually heard their moron anouncers saying something about the Pickle turning the corner from last week to this week. That's right, the sign you've arrived is beating Duke. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that the "NoD is finnaly getting going" spin is starting.

Chief, glad to see you can take the abuse and that you keep coming back here. As to the Forbes article, seriously at the current rate of decline, I wonder how long ND can afford to keep Weis if their futility continues. I can't say I mind ND's problems though, as I tell my sister in law when she asks why I hate ND so "they take some of OSU's recruits, besides they don't need me to like them, they already have every Catholic in the country loving them."

You clearly know little about the Catholics of this country, many of whom do not like Notre Dame. I spent 20 years teaching and coaching at a Catholic high school where the majority of teachers hated ND.

Sweeping generalities are dangerous. My own favorite is the assumption that everyone loves the Dallas Cowboys.
