Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

Speaking of 20 - 13, if Weis wins his next 50 games in a row, he'll have tied Tressel's win loss figures through 84 games.

Yea, but he's doing it with thugs and illiterates who would never, ever be recruited by Notruh Dahm.

It never ceases to amaze me; the ability of the domers in one sentence to brag about their recruiting triumphs, yet in a moment switch to rationalizing failure by talking about how Notre Dame can't compete because they won't take the players who go to Ohio State, Michigan or Wisconsin.

Uh huh. It's not like Bob Davie recruited Maurice Clarett or anything ... :paranoid:

I'm more amazed how they blame their failures on their only good players (non-Willingham recruits) only being freshmen and sophomores.......and in the same sentence talk about how incoming freshmen will make the team better.

"Charlie Weis has returned Notre Dame to relevancy. Just two years ago, as Notre Dame spiraled toward mediocrity under Ty Willingham, a shot at a national title seemed improbable. But the schemes and the discipline Weis has installed have revived past glories. The only question on the Irish offense comes on the line. But considering the way Weis turned castoff linemen into solid starters with the New England Patriots, that should not be a huge concern."?New York Times, Aug. 27, 2006

In the entire history of American sports hype, has there ever been any fraud more grossly fraudulent than Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis?

Weis' Fighting Irish now stand at 1-7. This record is only the faintest indicator of just how awful Notre Dame is. They have lost nine of their last 10 games, by an average of 24 points. None has been close. While Notre Dame has suffered very few injuries, three of its opponents have had to play the Irish without their starting quarterbacks. Two of those teams, USC and Michigan, nonetheless beat Notre Dame by a larger margin than either has beaten any other opponent so far this year. Notre Dame's lone win came against UCLA, which had been forced to use its third-string quarterback, a walk-on. In that game, Notre Dame compiled just 140 yards of offense, but won with the help of seven Bruin turnovers, five of them hand-delivered courtesy of the hapless walk-on signal-caller.

An excellent read.... I also read This Link which articulates a point I've been thinking about recently regarding the lack of respect Ohio State is getting in the media's eye this year - though not on topic to this thread. Just wanted to draw some attention to it.

Edit: and another Spot On analysis

This gets better. Just wait until they really turn on him. Say, after they lose their third game early next year.

God, I wish we played them next year--with the way our offense is developing, Boekman with a year under his belt and Beanie making a Heisman run combined with our defense...roll into South Bend and just pillage them like drunken Cossacks.

To be the team that officially drives a stake into that fraud's heart would be outstanding. Sadly, I think Michigan will get that honor.

You're assuming that ND would have been treated the same as Ohio State when Clarett went off the deep end. I believe that ESPN never would have repeated Clarett's claims had they been made against Notruh Dahm or at the very most would have quickly dismissed them as the ravings of an unhinged individual.

After all, it's not like Notre Dame would have been the program coming off a two year probation for major violations. Oh wait, they would have been that program.

Fixed it for you...

Giving up 2 in a row to a team the program had just beaten 41 straight would give Charlie a very special place in Suth Ben history.
