Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

In retrospect, ND SHOULD have hired Fickell and kept Freeman on staff as DC for a few years before he left for a starter HC gig somewhere.

But they didn’t. Ha.
FIFY.

ND should've added someone at QB because Buchner isn't it and IMO never will be it. I like Marcus but hiring him was too soon as well. He was a coordinator for like 2 years and then gets a top spot in college ball?

Oh, so you have a problem with me looking at them 'differently' now based on some developments...lol. Why am I looking at them differently today? Because I can and the reason is obvious. Bragging of beating them was based upon how good they are (or were supposed to be) from Ryan and others, and how tough we are now, that we beat a #5 &c. That doesn't appear to be the case because they aren't a very good team at all. IF they were what Ryan and others expected then I'd look at it the same I did earlier, but that changed today. It is a whole new persepctive now.

Yes, I do, both Bama and Texas, which could change as the year goes on.

Nope.
Maybe it was sitting so close to the field, A deck, row six, on the five, but the hitting was ferocious all night long by both Bucks and Irish. I thought their O'line held up against the few tricks Knowles threw at them. I thought their QB played well given this was his first start. They didn't give Treveon and Miyan any free yards. Both backs earned their yardage. I'm surprised they didn't bounce back at home and playing Marshall, but teams like Marshall and Arkansas State are benefitting from the new transfer rules by getting kids who can't crack the lineup at bigger-name schools and decide to take their talent to somewhere were they can - e.g. I thought Blackmon played a hell of a game for Arky State.

Former 5* from Free Shoes if I remember correctly. I think that they talked about him driving Uber for a year between FSU and getting to Marshall. Kid was a baller — or — the Domers just looked like crap.

Likely a bit of both.
Yup, Khalon Laborn, I believe OSU was looking at him for a little too. From VA Beach, he put on a show against ND

And to add insult to injury, starting QB, Tyler Buchner is out for the season...

It seems like these teams often have a let-down after playing Ohio State. I don't have specific examples, but what about USC in 2009? I think they lost to Washington State the next week. Washington State finished 5-7.
In 2010, Ohio State lost to Wisconsin. The following week, Wisconsin beat Iowa by 1 point. Iowa finished 8-5. (Note that Iowa and Ohio State had a close game, too, so maybe this doesn't count.)
In 2014, Virginia Tech beat Ohio State. The following week, Virginia Tech lost to East Carolina.

Okay, I don't have any more examples.
