Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

You guys are going to beat the holy hell out of ND.

It seems like if you a nice job of stopping the run, they are so limited on the outside that they will really struggle on passing downs.
Of course, it's typical ND, so they'll have an athletic and talented Tight End, but he's not gonna go for 140, 2 td's on you.

Depends. Did the Buckeyes learn how to stop the Run Left play?

Holy cripes. This might become my new favorite fanbase to make fun of. Many are insulted by NBC not putting Notre Dame homers in the broadcast booth.

They treat us like the minor leagues with these announcers. Flutie, Brees, Collinsworth, Garrett really nbc that's the best you can do
NBC has never wanted these games to be that homerish. I've not seen anything that indicates the level of input ND has in hiring announcers. can't be much when one looks back on the previous booths
I believe the feeling is having homer broadcasters, like we have with radio, is considered bush league on network TV.
NBC must really feel they're overpaying for ND football when you consider the announcing teams they always come up with. It's like the Fox "C" team for their NFL weekends. They probably told Tirico "Don't worry Mike, you won't be on this job for long" when they presented it to him.
Looks like Sluggo will be muting the telly and listening to tunes.
This is why I hate NBC, they don’t really give a shit about ND football IMO. Nothing personal against these two but they have no business calling ND games.
It’s a shame right? I’ll be honest, I haven’t liked NBC broadcast of Notre Dame football in a long, long time. It always seems flat and kind of boring. It’s like they’re doing a golf match.
Maybe that has something to do with the product on the field?
I have three close friends that share my passion for Notre Dame football and we’re in a group text thread together. Not a single one of us likes NBC or has for a long time.
They treat Notre Dame like its not important to them
Seems like you would give the best for a team your paying 70ml for only home games.

I like Jack and believe he will be a good play by play but it does feel like ND is getting the scraps. Pretty low budget if you ask me.

I swear there was instance where ND asked NBC to fire a broadcaster (thought it was Chris Collinsworth) for not being positive enough about ND football, but I can't find any proof.
They let Flutie go a couple of years ago because he wasn’t enough of a pro-Domer.

UHND.com

In addition to announcing the start times for five of Notre Dame’s six home games in 2020, Notre Dame and NBC also announced a major shakeup to the broadcast crew that is sure to delight Notre Dame fans around the country. Doug Flutie is OUT as the primary commentator and NFL Hall of Fame head coach Tony Dungy is in. Mike Tirico, a fan favorite, returns as the play by play commentator.

Unlike Tirico, Doug Flutie was not a fan favorite among the Notre Dame faithful who tune in to NBC for every Notre Dame home game. From almost the start of Flutie’s tenure covering Notre Dame games, Irish fans were turned off by Flutie’s seemingly over abundance of praise for Irish opponents and at times, gleeful responses for poor Notre Dame plays.

It was Collinsworth. He used to speak openly about it and say he thought he was hired to be a football analyst and not a publicist for one of the teams playing. The priests had him fired the first year. His kid ended up going to ND (that strange cult-like trance that place puts on people from Declan Sullivan's parents to Marcus Freeman) and is now the new ND announcer, so I'm guessing Cris keeps quiet about it these days.
