Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

At one time there was an actual thread to discuss football that wasn't related to SoS, off the field issues, opinions, ancient history, etc. Basically the football thread was a discussion of the current season and the slate of games. It's still here somewhere, it's just buried, I'd have to go look for it.

The two were split because at the time the ND thread was getting bloated and at one point it was larger than the thread dedicated to scUM. That was awhile ago though, probably goes back to before NDChief's banning. There's not really any other ND fans that post here anymore. Apac may drop in on occasion, but he was the only other poster that would provide any input on an Irish perspective.

Well... it is the off-season. Unfortunately it's slim pickings and the off-field stuff takes precedence.
The other thread will probably get bumped in a month or so.

Notre Dame won’t have running back Greg Bryant this season. Already looking at a four-game suspension for violating team rules, news broke today via Irish Illustrated that the junior running back was declared academically ineligible for the fall semester, ending his season before it even began.

It’s another bump in the road for Bryant, a former five-star recruit who has yet to fulfill that promise in two-plus seasons in South Bend. Per Pete Sampson of Irish Illustrated, Bryant won’t report to campus for training camp, but will instead enroll in classes with the rest of the student body in late August.

Notre Dame confirmed the news earlier today, with Brian Kelly releasing a statement through SID Michael Bertsch.

4 games for "violating team rules", coach murders a kid, nothing.

ND may not want to wake the echos. This time, the galloping ghost may be riding a swaying scissor lift from hell.

Head coach isn't in charge of videographers, but whether it was the AD or someone else in the Athletic Department, someone's head certainly should have rolled over that oversight.

As far as the 4 games on his suspension for pot, I'm sure Greg wishes he would have went to school in Columbus instead. That only nets you a 1 game ban
Sounds like he's another academic casualty though. From what people on campus have said he's been going to class but not getting all the work done. It sounds like a motivational issue. It's a shame because the kid came in highly recruited, struggled with knee issues and had to redshirt first year, second year he didn't break out, and this should have been his "make or break" year to step out and do well. Looks like he could be a bust at this point. On the flip side Tarean Folston has stepped up well and been a great player. The RB position isn't very deep right now with Bryant out, Irish fans will be praying that both Zaire and Folston stay healthy this season as the next string doesn't have any experience.
