Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

What I have to say won't go down well with Methomps, but yesterday's game had me, someone who hates Notre Dame, actually hoping (sort of) that Claussen would complete one more pass and they'd at least take USC into overtime. What a bunch of undisciplined, loud mouthed, showboating cheap shot artists. Taylor Mays should be forced to sit at least the next game and #93 as well. something like 5 personal fouls called several more that could have/should have been called and numerous counts of taunting only one of which was called and even then the ref tried to stop the clown before he was forced to throw the flag -- and did Pete say anything, pull a kid over and give him an ass chewing? No.

It's simply uncalled for and it's behavior that has for far too long been a trademark of Trojan football.

Yeah, it wouldn't have bothered me if a meteor hit the stadium yesterday, either. :wink2:

It's been like that for awhile, I think Petey encourages it to boost the ego's and enthusiasm for the team. I think it can work, to some degree, the players jump up and down on the sideline when stuff like this occurs, and they do that little chant that they do. I have a problem with the way Petey handles himself. Half the game he's not even on the sideline, he's on the field. He's in the ears of the refs pretty often too. While this isn't unusual, he was getting pretty livid yesterday despite the fact it was his own PAC-10 officiating crew. I didn't have too many problems with the PAC-10 refs yesterday, they've done worse jobs, and in the final minutes I certainly don't think they cost us the game in any way unlike 2005. One of the better officiating jobs I've seen out of them, but I was also in the stands so it's tougher to see some things.

No, they were Pac 10 officials (Big Least in the booth for replays). Still, calling them "his own" officials is a bit...well, retarded. That's taking the Fat-Chuck blame the officials way out. I'm not a big Pete Carroll fan, but the guy wins, so at least give him that. If you really wanted to beat USC on Saturday, you would have sent a reminder to your defense to show up on time.

I missed it...what happened to Collinsworth and what did he say?

The original NBC team for Notre Dame home games was Collinsworth and Bob Trumpy. Trump was actually a good analyst on his own radio show, called 'em as he saw 'em... and got driven out of town by Paul and Mikey Boy Brown for being too critical of the Bengals.

When he arrived in South Bend he knew what his job called for, singing nothing but magnificats for all things Irish. There wasn't a kid on the field who hadn't saved a kitten from the tree, rescued dogs from the pound, helped little old ladies cross streets, succeeded despite a broken home and was an All American or certified first rounder.

Collinsworth, on the other hand, didn't play the game; criticized play calls, pointed out errors, questioned some of the blow job selections Trump was making and dared to suggest that ND wasn't the best team in all of footballdom.

Notre Dame went straight to NBC and got him fired.

Should have guessed. Have to be Beano Cook and say they will play for the National Championship for the 947th straight year (or be Pat Haden and just be a basic assrocket) I guess.

Didn't a bunch of tOSU players say that the USC kids talked a bunch of shit after our game? Seems to be pretty par for the course for USC.

Charlie's fat.

Whats the name of it? I've heard some co-workers talk about this guy before, would like to try it out as I am a connoisseur of sorts.

"Western Pancake House" - same name he used for his old chain.
