I think that they could lose to Michigan State, Purdue, Southern Cal, Boston College, Navy, UConn, and Stanford. If they beat MSU, then I think that they can win close games against the teams not in bold. If they lose to MSU, Purdue, and Southern Cal, then I think that Weis will be fired mid-season and all hell will break lose.

Maybe Notre Dame should bring its own refs to away games.

And it should staff the booth with its refs in home games.

I'm not talking about Big East refs. I mean referees paid by Notre Dame. Maybe Army and Navy if they want in.

The conference teams can bitch, but that's an admission of the conflict of interest this presents. If a Michigan or a Stanford refuses to play ND because of it, we'll play someone else. Notre Dame has to do something -- this or some other bold move.

Maybe ND should join a conference. The Big East would be a perfect fit. No one to worry about except WVU. Puts them in a BCS Bowl even when they have a down season. Their own refs... as if their own network, their own PR firm, their own BCS rules, weren't enough. Oh, and Just ask Chris Collinsworth what happens when you say a discouraging word about ND on the air.
