NoSuch Dame LB Manti "Snugglebunny" Te'o (official imaginary thread)

I couldn't care less whether Te'o is gay. I couldn't care less whether he was in on the hoax. I couldn't care less what Notre Dame has to say about the whole mess. I honestly don't understand why everyone else seems to care about all these things so got-dam much.

Fuck it. I'm moving on. Have fun playing in this sandbox, guys.

How can you NOT be fascinated by this train wreck?

Real life soap operas are the best. You can't make this shit up.

Granted, it has nothing to do with sports. But it is great fun.

And to top it off, we were hoping someone driving this particular car might get hit by a train.

A couple months ago she called me up on the phone, and she was like, ?Hey, I have bad news, I?m dead.? And I said ?Oh no! Do you need a ride to the funeral?? But she said, ?No, it?s OK. My body is being shot out into outer space, so you don?t need to show up or ask any questions about it.?

It's because he's a star football player with a multi-million dollar payday waiting for him and I'm me. It makes me feel much better about myself.

The South Bend Tribute absolutely reams Te'o
Why is this any different than sitting next to Te’o in the Gug in September listening to his rendition of a much different story? Is he more believable now than he was then? Is this just a do-over?

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice ...

Maybe, though, the complete scenario building up to Te’o’s attempt to clear his name was fitting.

It was a prime-time Friday night event — for viewers in Hawaii. For folks in South Bend, it was a chore to maintain interest through the Dallas-Oklahoma City dunkfest. An NBA game in January is bad. Overtime is cruel and unusual punishment.
Didn’t make sense. Schaap talked about Te’o’s demeanor being “completely composed; self-assured.” Let the public be the judge. In many cases, body language speaks louder than words.

It’s not like Te’o had never been in front of a camera before. His life has played out in the Notre Dame fish bowl.

Can Te’o’s handlers figure out a contractual way that he might be able to play his NFL games “off camera?” There go the endorsements. Sooner or later, someone somewhere is going to stick a microphone in front of his face while the red light is on and ask him about this fiasco.
The wounds caused by deception haven’t even started to heal yet. The public is more cynical and less trusting than it was a week ago. How do we know Te’o really told Schaap what Schaap said Te’o told him?
They already came up with a typo in the transcript. Te’o said the circumstances didn’t affect him in the BCS National Championship Game, but ESPN’s original release had him saying it did.
The only concrete proof that Te’o was actually in the same room as Schaap were some photos distributed by ESPN. Even then, there was no timeline with it. Can’t the right people do wonders with Photoshop?
Since this hoax has been so elaborate, is this just another ruse? Is ESPN in on it? Did Te’o have a stunt double in the room with Schaap? Don’t forget, the E stands for Entertainment. That was probably the highest-rated January NBA game — ever.

Conspiracy theorists can have a hay-day with this one. And why shouldn’t they?

Kinda like Elvis in a Kalamazoo donut shop, and the guy with the gun on the grassy knoll.
Then there are the harsh aftershocks. A few hours after the remarks from the Te’o interview were first broadcast, Irish receiver TJ Jones — whose father Andre, a player on Notre Dame’s 1988 national championship team, died last year — received a tweet, “Did your dad die or is it a fake dead dad?”
About time someone did this. The commenters were naturally filled with homers, except for this guy:
Steven McDaniel ? Top Commenter ? South Bend, Indiana
Hear that he is the #1 draft pick for fantasy football!
