NoSuch Dame LB Manti "Snugglebunny" Te'o (official imaginary thread)

I just want to say that this whole sordid, sad, disgusting scandal that has done nothing but cast a giant shadow on the legitimate efforts of an entire team, an entire program, an entire university has really caused me to reevaluate the harsh and unyielding position that I've taken vis-a-vis other universities in the past.

And upon further reflection....................

Well, Teo is still lying. That is what I get from the stuff that came out of his interview with Schaap. It's pretty clear to me he and his family have been paying attention to all the questions people have been asking. One of the big ones was how he continued to talk about his fake girlfriend all the way up to the NC game. Teo answers that in the Schaap interview. He didn't think she was actually fake until 2 days ago when Ronaiah admitted to him it was all a hoax (of course he still new she wasn't actually dead, but let's just ignore that massive lie). OK, great, so he continued with it like she was an actual person. Yet something doesn't fit here. ND supposedly did this massive investigation, found all of the supposed culprits, and knew all of this stuff before two days ago. Did they forget to tell Manti?

This guy is so full of it. I was willing to give him some benefit of some doubt, but at this point I am pretty sure he and his family are in on this. They needed a couple of days to promise Ronaiah money to be the fall guy and make sure he would be in on it, and to clear up the questions everybody was asking. Yet the answers still don't make sense. My only guess is they are either complete idiots or they think everybody else is (probably both).

He is really starting to come across as a sociopath to me.

I wouldn't go so far as to call the brother stupid. I mean he got an intelligence problem. What's the ****** gonna do, he's Mormon.

Greg Couch thinks Manti needs to offer human contact. Yes Manti, you can't just give all your critics leukemia and call it a day.

Manti Te?o set too many conditions. Private interview. No cameras. One questioner, ESPN?s Jeremy Schaap. Two days late, after having had a chance to see what the doubters were saying.

So, Te?o answered 2? hours of questions Friday and Schaap believed his story. And well, that?s nice for Schaap. He is among our most respected, credible members of the media. But there is no way people will be convinced by hearing Te?o through him, second-hand.

It?s not nearly enough. I don?t want to go all 2005 on you, but at some point, something in this story has to involve a little more human contact. Everything is just so removed somehow.

Real human contact. How about a little face time? Te?o more than anyone should know the value of that by now

The Girl of My Dreams
By GAIL COLLINS

There is nothing the world loves more than an athlete who's playing the game on behalf of a dying loved one.... The story's been a staple ever since the expiring Ronald Reagan told Notre Dame to "win just one for the Gipper," in "Knute Rockne - All American."...

And now we have Manti Te'o, the star linebacker for Notre Dame, whose dying girlfriend turned out to be imaginary. But imaginary with a lot of team spirit. "Babe, if anything happens to me, you promise that you'll stay there and you'll play and you'll honor me through the way you play," she told him when she was critically injured in a car crash, fell into a coma and then emerged to learn she had leukemia.

This all occurred a couple of years after the Notre Dame team was involved in a genuine tragedy when a freshman from a neighboring girls' college reported she had been sexually assaulted by a football player. The school did not order up an outside investigation. In fact, there appeared to be no investigation at all. After a period of dead silence in which she received a threatening text from another player, the girl died from an overdose of medication. Nothing else happened. Writing this week in The Washington Post, Melinda Henneberger, a Notre Dame graduate, noted that, "my alma mater held the kind of emotional news conference for the fake dead girl they never held for the real one, Lizzy Seeberg."

Game's over. Notre Dame loses.

Pretty good, but ignores the scissors lift.

Manti's love was only true in Fairy Tales.
Meant for the internet, but not to see.
What's the use in tryin'.. Do do..do do..
All Manti got is pain..Do do..do do..
Manti wanted text love, but got no game...

He never saw her face!
But he's a believer!
Of her, there was no trace!
She's was all in his mind!
But he's in love..Ooooooo....
He's a believer and he couldn't see her if he tried..

they needed the drug dealer story to come out 1st.
that way he had an excuse to keep talking about her as if she was dead.

can't say she's alive if drug dealers are after her.

Not really confident Jeremy Schapp is going to ask the right questions. Would really like to hear responses to:

-His teammates not believing he was in a committed relationship
-More color to the story that they met after a game at Stanford
-A follow-up to "why didn't you visit her after she came out of a coma?" - Saying "it just didn't cross my mind" isn't good enough.
-Direct questions in regards to the ND Press Conference..the inaccuracies between Swarbrick and Te'O are already mounting.

  • apparently he wasn't convinced she didn't exist in early December as Jack suggested
  • With the ND investigation, why did he still believe she may have existed up until Weds of this week?
  • Why won't he release his phone records or show his private twitter account?
